Later that night, Stan returned, smelling strongly of alcohol. He stumbled into the room, his eyes glazed and unfocused. You were still on the bed, your body curled into a ball, your eyes red from crying. Stan looked at you for a moment, then laughed.
"Still crying, huh?" he said, his voice slurred. "Pathetic."
You didn't respond. You just lay there, your body shaking with silent sobs. Stan didn't care. He just kicked off his shoes, fell onto the bed, and passed out, leaving you to cry yourself to sleep.
