I see so many authors bagging on themselves like “why can’t I ever finish anything, I’m a terrible artist and a terrible writer”, and what I want to say based on my professional assessment of their work and where it tends to fall apart is “your art and writing are fine, your real problem is that you’re a shitty project manager” – but of course you can’t actually say that, because while it’s true, it’s almost never actually helpful to tell someone out of the blue that their real issue is that they entirely lack a critical skill-set they didn’t even know existed.

PRODUCTIVITY DAY

Wow, it’s been an age since I did one of these, children have been born and celebrated birthdays since then... well, not my own. But somewhere, I am sure.

Anyway.

It is 12.30pm on Saturday but I have shit to do, so I am making this list :D

I spent the morning gaming, time to DO THINGS.

Feel free to join me with whatever chore/activity you want to accomplish today!

- Buy metro ticket for tomorrow

Productivity Weekend Dec  13-15

Last weekend was really useful for me, even though I procrastinated on half the things on my list by doing OTHER things. I’m trying to work my way back into productivity every day after work, weather I switch off between cleaning, writing, or running… but it’s hard to get back there when all I want to do after work is sleep.

@productivityhour I’ve done a couple of things but then I realized I had to add a couple more.

buy bleach

do dishes

spray down bathroom surfaces with bleach solution

put clothes away

1.       Put dishes away

2.       spray down kitchen surfaces with bleach solution

3.       throw away food

4.       spray down fridge surfaces with bleach solution

5.       clean off desk

6.       spray desk with bleach solution

7.       clean off red table

8.       put red table away

9.       pack magpie boxes to ship

10.   ship magpie boxes before five

11.   buy groceries

I think I’m gonna do a one hour cleaning challenge starting sometime within he next hour (10am-11am MST for me) to see how much I can get done in an hour. I’m willing to bet, I can get 1-8 done in that time if I buckle down, my brain is just going “8 things in an hour? Impossible” even though many of those things can be done synchronously and don’t actually take that long.

I’ll post results of one hour of cleaning after I’m done.

Productivity Evening/Weekend Dec 5-9

So, I had an idea about Productivity Evening/Weekend. Frankly, I don’t want to do any of the things I need to do, so my idea: 

Make your lists, and do one big thing on that list each day. 

Yes, I am assuming your lists are like mine and involve cleaning. (My list also involves reading but I’m avoiding it because I need to clean and I’m avoiding THAT???? SIGH).

My hope is that I can get the worst of it done on Thursday and Friday and then maybe relax on the weekend (or do the writing/reading/Christmas shopping aspect of it).
