Hey, out of curiosity, do you have any ATLA ocs, and if you do, for your main oc[s], lore?
Also, any hc's about Azula, cuz I think she's my favorite character in the series :DDD
AYYY PUMPKIN LOVE YOU <33
Hmm,
One of my fav headcanons is that Zuko and Azula were very very close as kids, even closer than normal sibling pairs
But then Ozai began to mold Azula, causing her to become distant, and even cruel enough to the point she’d hurt Zuko just to gauge his reactions
------------
ATLAVERSE OC LORE
you are going to regret ever asking about my oc lore :D
okay okay so basically
We have 7 ocs (<33), all based in a modern AU for ATLA. Its in todays world, so we have all of the tech of today. In this world, benders are the minority and the subject of a lot of prejudice. Some people love em, most hate them because they’re far more powerful than the average human and everyone is threatened by them. A few smart people make friends with the benders (big brain) but most everyone is terrified by them (peasants).
In Tabs' words:
"Benders in the modern world are a minority and are oppressed and demonized. Any person known to have bending powers are locked in jail, killed, or sent to illegal bending arenas to fight to the death.
The Avatar spirit has been missing for generations. There is no hope, there is no brighter future for benders.
The Avatar is gone. Lost.
Until he was found in the body of a man named Revon.
Revon, forced to hide for the entirety of his life, seeks not to bring benders and nonbenders together, but to eradicate every last one of the benders so that he alone holds all the power.
He will unite the world, under his rule.
That’s where a small rebel group, known as the Steel Hearts, comes into play. A vigilante group dating back to the times of Avatar Korra, it is led by a young waterbender. Once, her parents led the group, before they disbanded under mysterious circumstances.
For five years, the waterbender has languished in hiding. Once a formidable assassin and a powerful bloodbender, now only a tender of a tea house.
Her tranquil life is flipped on its head one day, when an airbender running from her past seeks the waterbender out, begging her to pick up the pieces of the decades old rebellion and put them back together.
And here is where our story truly begins."
Put simplistically,
nonbender government: bending is bad kill all benders
avatar: non-benders are bad, benders are bad, kill all of the benders so i can be the only bender and threaten the non-benders
the group: hey what the fuck
The characters are based off of my best friends, the people in the infamous Infinity Gauntlet GC, and the adults are based off our teachers (they love it i swear)
Characters below the cut!
Steel Hearts
Kara [she/her] (me) -> Waterbender, Bloodbender, trained assassin, weapon of choice: throwing knives <33, Orion's S/O
Akira [she/they] (@tabsters) -> Firebender, Lightningbender, (lore to be revealed), weapon of choice: pistol, Rexen's S/O
Rexen [they/them] (@iirexenii) -> Earthbender, Metalbender (second to only Ren), (lore to be revealed), weapon of choice: dual scythes, Akira's S/O
Ren [he/him] (@halfghostlyfires) -> Earthbender, can literally bend every sub-element, most powerful earthbender right after Toph Beifong, resident rich guy #1, weapon of choice: Kyoketsu-shoge (“KNIFE ON A ROPE” according to tabs)
Amara [she/her] (@serenaisproblem) -> Airbender, hacker, weapon of choice: pocketknife (violence when she has to)
Artemis [he/him] (this is the Artemis that Tabs and I refer to) -> Waterbender, resident rich guy #2, weapon of choice: handheld dagger (only resorts to violence when he has to)
Zephyr [they/them] (@im-just-here-for-the-comics-r18) -> Non-bender, absolute badass and will not hesitate to kill, weapon of choice: a goddamn flame thrower
Akio [he/him] (@tdog451) -> Firebender, one of the most powerful in the group, weapon of choice: also throwing knives and his firebending, if you haven't guessed by now, this is Kara's lost lost twin brother
Orion [he/him] (@yourlocalapplejuice) -> Airbender, doesn't do violence except to protect those he loves too, weapon of choice: airbending, Kara's S/O
Villains:
Revon: based off of my humanities teacher, has some history with Kara (we literally dont know what yet), the Avatar and Kara’s direct opponent, weapon of choice: throwing knives
Vexx: based off of no one because Vexx is creepy and weird and none of us like him, weapon of choice: literally any kind of knife and gun, Artemis’ direct opponent
Lilith: also not based off of anyone because she is terrifying, runs an illegal bending arena, both Rexen’s and Akira’s direct opponent, weapon of choice: gun
Those are the three main villain as of now, we’re still developing Amara’s and Zephyr’s
Backstories:
Kara: parents were assassins, bloodbenders, and leaders of the Steel Hearts, passed that down to Kara. Her parents ended up killing each other (no explanation yet <33)
Akira and Rexen: both were kidnapped at a young age and forced to fight in a bending arena. Rexen escaped first, but was forced to leave Akira behind. Akira finally escaped, met up with Kara's gang, then finds Rexen, and now those two make out at every opportunity after 6 months of being apart
Ren and Artemis: their stories are intertwined. Both were best friends in their youth, but Artemis’ parents being killed led to a rift in their friendship (if you want more on this specific one, tabs and I have a ficlet)
Ren: abusive parents, rich dude, but runs away, ends up getting kidnapped and arrested, his parents have put out a bounty on him
Artemis: actual loving parents, but they’re dead now (heheh) so artemis is forced to live on his own at 12, ends up being successful but chooses to look for his parents’ killer
Amara: oldest kid and has to take care of her siblings. After striking a deal with some pretty shady people, amara shoves her family in a safe place and runs. She is the first member of the steel hearts, and she is the one who encourages Kara to restart it
(We’re still figuring out Zephyr’s backstory lmao but I will put it in here soon)
YEAH THATS ABOUT IT IF YALL WANT SOME OF THE FICS ASK TABS OR ME AND WE’LL BE VERY VERY HAPPY TO SHARE
AAAAAAAAAAAAAA THANKS FOR THE ASK, PUMPKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
The way Rocky pushes up into the xenonite so he can be even closer to Grace and the way Grace wraps his arms tighter around him have I ever mentioned they make me fucking ill.
I really like the idea of a rygos + bloodymary high school AU where everything seems pretty normal. Just basic coming-of-age and family drama from the whole Rygos family.
Then it cuts to Ryland and Simon both going through some crazy supernatural or alien bullshit every chapter.
I’ll put this as a reblog too this is incredibly amusing to me
There is every once and a while a near miss where someone else is very close to getting involved with the side plot, but Ryland has let this go on for too long. absolutely refuses to go through come to us for anything lecturing about the supernatural or aliens.
"TABS GIVE ME IN DETAIL YOUR ANALYSES FOR ZOMBIE STAGE" - @professionalwaterbender
your wish is my command, strap in folks. a lot of this has already been said by other people before, i'm just collecting it all in one place.
- mizi's hair as a child is short, while sua's hair is long; in alien stage, the only time mizi had short hair was when she was in the rebellion, while the only time sua has long hair was when she was forced into modelling by her segyein owner, therefore, short hair for mizi represents freedom and long hair for sua represents being trapped. keep this in mind for their future appearances.
- the first thing that is established is that mizi is a violent person—she has bruises on her face, and she has just very clearly killed a rat. she suffers abuse, so she projects that abuse onto smaller beings, beings that she can crush—which likens back to her "crush or be crushed" mentality back at alien stage.
- despite the fact that mizi is established as violent, sua does not mind it. she embraces mizi, showing that she loves mizi unconditionally.
- there is a very heavy religious overtone with the music, it sounds like a church choir, and this might be relevant later. there were a lot of religious themes in alien stage, and in zombie stage, mizisua still refer to each other as "my god, my universe"
- the vast majority of the audience watching mizisua perform are men, which speaks for itself.
- the first thing you automatically look at when you look at a person is their eyes, but since mizi has no eyes, your own eyes automatically move down for something else to focus on—towards her chest. she has no eyes, meaning that she cannot convey any sort of emotion, and the scars around her mouth make it look like she is smiling, even when she isn't. all she can do is smile. all she can do is play the perfect idol role.
- additionally, mizi's outfit is very frilly and childish, with lots of bows and ruffles—but this is heavily juxtaposed by the fact that her dress shows off all of her cleavage. this dichotomy showcases the two ends of the spectrum when it comes to an idol appeasing a specifically male audience—either the men want something sexy, or they want something innocent. this style of idol clothing is also specifically more Jpop than it is Kpop.
- mizi is quite literally a faceless idol. she does not matter as a person. nobody is able to recognize her in this state. she is just a commodity, just something to look at and admire and have fantasies projected onto her. you cannot look her in the eye. this is objectification cranked to the max.
- the earrings that mizi wears are the same as the hearts shown in the dream sequence during KARMA.
- the men that are tying mizi to the target have are wearing either sheep masks or goat masks, which could be interpreted in multiple different ways—riya interpreted it as "a wolf in sheep's clothing" while i interpreted it as "the lambs doing the slaughtering" (alluding to "lambs to the slaughter). they are also dressed extremely provocatively, but in this case, they are meant to embody an explicitly male fantasy—their muscles are on full display, they are in control, they are subjugating these weaker, helpless women.
- the purple flowers sua gifted mizi are clematis flowers, which not only symbolize their love (my clematis) but also mizi herself (mizi has been associated with clematis flowers in official merch, while sua has been associated with white lilies). thus, this scene is twofold: sua gives mizi the flowers (symbolizing their relationship) and mizi passes the flowers off like she would with anything else, to an assistant. they are losing the love they once had, and mizi is losing herself to the idol industry.
- also mizi and sua's hand placement make me think that mizi yanked the flowers out of sua's hand but i could be wrong
- in zombie stage, the loser's organs are cut out and auctioned off, but it's implied that mizi lost her eyes very recently after becoming a zombie, so i assume an exception was made for her because she's an idol.
- many many many shots of mizi sexualizing herself due to the idol industry. the shots specifically where she's pouring water on herself are allusions to the real life waterbomb festival held in korea, which specifically targets idols that are willing to sexualize themselves for the industry.
- also in every single photo here mizi looks so fucking dead inside she is not attracted to any of these men in any way whatsoever and she is just doing this to survive. alien stage fans, however, are mostly illiterate and some of them are using these scenes to say that mizi is actually bisexual or not a lesbian which piss me off beyond belief.
- mizi has turned to smoking as a coping mechanism, as many idols tend to do, and in sua's eyes, smoking is a morally reprehensible action. throughout alien stage and zombie stage, sua is seen trying to shape mizi into the image that she sees in her head, and she does this now by taking the cigarette away from mizi, trying to curb what she sees as her bad habits. though this is also common in the idol industry, idols face backlash when their fans find out about it, because of the perceived moral reprehensibleness. she is behaving exactly like how a fan of mizi's would behave.
- smoking is also a symbol of self-destructive behavior, which plays into how mizi is destroying herself for the industry.
- mizi is presumably a cigarette addict, and addicts get violent when their vices are taken away from them, hence why she slaps sua. this once again ties into mizi's "crush or be crushed" mentality. in the true face comic, mizi describes sua as "somebody that i could crush in an instant if i felt like it", and she takes out all her anger onto sua because she knows sua will take it. this is supported by sua trying to comfort her after being slapped.
- for a brief second, as sua is hugging mizi, it cuts to a scene of mizi being hugged by her mother, who is presumably the one that gave mizi the bruise in the very beginning scene of the video. this triggers mizi, because abusers comforting their victims after they hurt them is a very common abuse tactic, and so she lashes out at sua, because she presumably believes that sua is just like her mother.
- it's debated what mizi said to sua, i personally believe that she's saying something along the lines of "you're just jealous that i became an idol and you didn't" mizi is lashing out at sua, but she clearly does not mean what she says, as she looks terrified as she runs away from sua.
- it's debated on whether or not sua was aware of the zombie chasing after mizi. on one hand, there were people saying that the zombie seemed pretty silent, and that maybe sua was having a mental breakdown and didn't notice, while there's other people saying that she let the zombie chase after mizi on purpose. this was presumably before widespread knowledge of zombies occurred. i have no idea, form your own conclusions.
- also this one scene of mizisua posing with the people that are going to butcher them REALLY rubs me the wrong way. i mean in a good way but still.
- it is extremely important to note how sua makes two finger frames with her hands, because this once again shows her controlling nature and her desire to mold mizi into the image that she sees in her mind. in the video, she focuses in on mizi's breasts, showing that even the one person that loved mizi before she became an idol, before she had ANYTHING—that one person still lusts after her and objectifies her. deification is still objectification. there is no difference. the mizi in sua's mind is not the same as the real mizi, just as the mizi in the minds of the audience is not the same as the real mizi.
- again, sua is the one lacing her fingers in mizi's—mizi is likely too far gone to even comprehend what is going on. she is the one taking control. however, it should be noted that mizi makes a brief effort to clasp sua's hand back before going limp
- in all three of the kiss scenes, mizi is unable to see. when they were children, sua was taking off mizi's glasses in order to control what she could see—her vision of the world was blurry, and the only thing that she could see clearly was sua. in the other two, she literally has no eyes. when mizi first became a zombie, she was restrained, and when she's fully zombie, she has no sense of what is going on around her. everything is orchestrated by sua, for sua. additionally, it's important to note that fully zombified mizi has no nose. she cannot breathe when sua is kissing her—sua is suffocating her with her love.
- sua is extremely selfish. this is not a new fact, and yet somehow the ALNST fandom manages to be extremely illiterate and completely miss out on this.
- the ending screen says 'HAPPY END' because this is sua's happy end. she gets to be with mizi forever, performing with mizi forever, and they can never die.
- once the scene shfits back to hyuna's POV, everything is black and white—the performance is over, and reality sets back in. hyuna is initially blushing, but then she realizes and seems disgusted with herself—she, too, has become swept up in the performance and forgot that these were once actual human beings.
- forgot to say: mizi's fans were mainly women when she first debuted, but as she slowly lost herself in the industry and began sexualizing herself, they became men.
- might analyze the actual song lyrics at a later date who knows
I love how people are either obsessed with Project Hail Mary or obsessed with the Fall Guy, but I am the secret third thing and obsessed with the Gray Man (I’m a sucker for strong stoic guys with blood on their hands accidentally acquiring children.)
Anyways, all this to say a lot of you guys are mischaracterizing Court. Yes he is a strong stoic guy with blood on his hands, but he’s also got a sense of humor. This guy is funny and sassy, he loves cracking a good witty jokes in the middle of a fight. His humor is a little more subtle and on the nose compared to Colt or Ryland, but it’s there. Please please please add some humor into your Court scenes!
It’s also rare for people to ever talk about his strange gum addiction? This guy has very few pleasures in life, let him have his gum.
Grace who’s meeting Courtland after finding out his brother isn’t dead: oh my god holy frick how are you.. and what— Court how are you—
Courtland who hasn’t gone by Courtland much less Court in decades and has seen himself as less then human for so long that if he hears Ryland call him Court again he will start balling: It’s Six… I’m Six
Grace who is a gen z middle school teacher and has had many a child come to him with an interesting new name all through out the years: Ok yeah that’s totally ok um.. and pronouns?
the child is too lonely, let's give him a famous twin brother and an older spy brother and detective grandparents and a fucking convict who he can have a QPR with and he's still a teacher and yes, somehow Rocky, Adrian and Eva are there too..
*holds a gun against your back so you can't run away* "WALK WITH ME."
SO, imagine:
Grace gets shot into space, and the news announces it as some noble sacrifice, and how he's a hero for saving the launch window.
Court is watching while on some assignment.
And he knows his baby brother. And his baby brother is a coward.
He goes AWOL.
Weeks pass, and suddenly, major international government figures involved in Project Hail Mary's development begin disappearing and turning up dead.
World leaders begin panicking and scrambling for answers, but the death rate just keeps climbing.
Until one night, on Stratt's Vat, in the middle of the Antarctic, Eva Stratt wakes up to a gun pressed against her forehead, and a cold, murderous voice asks:
the grace boys rarely got candy growing up because their dad didn't want them to be "spoiled," so he never let them have anything extra. in all fairness, they didn't have a lot of money, but what constituted "extra" seemed to be up to dad's sole discretion. candy was extra; so was colt's medication when he stopped having symptoms (he started seizing again the same week); so were ryland's glasses when they got stomped on by a bully (the cracks through the lenses gave him headaches even worse than he usually got from not wearing them).
court couldn't do everything he wished he could for them; he was still just a child, no matter how little he acted like one. but he could do candy. once a week he'd take the twins to the corner store and let them pick one thing each. ryland liked fruit flavors, colt liked chocolate. when dad grounded the twins for whatever imaginary sin they'd committed this time, court still went by the corner store for sour skittles and reese's cups and secreted them into the twins' room. their favorites.
now ryland's alone in a spaceship with pounds of sour skittles, wondering why they taste like love. and why he craves peanut butter.
