Presenting a vision ive had on 3 hours of sleep

So basically both Ava and Simon have been isekaied into the Hail Mary. They both arrive at the same obvious conclusion: Captain Dr. Ryland Grace is the leader of a very wealthy, independent, self sustaining ship likely apart of some secret government operation from before the quiet rapture. This is only further proven by the existence of his small alien engineer and large alien biologist.

They believe that Grace only has enough resources for one of them to stay (They have no reason to believe other then heavy trauma). So while both are stuck in quarantine, they try to show Grace how eager they are to work and subtlety put the other down.

Unfortunately Grace is a dumbass who hasn't interacted with people in nearly a full decade at this point. So they are completely oblivious to this competition and are just so happy to have such cool and dedicated new friends.

Ava: Dr. Grace if you have any jobs you would like me to do please let me know. Simon: Doctor, Ava needs her rest and couldn't possibly work with some of her injuries, I'm fine please allow me to help you with anything you want. Ava: Don't be modest Con-Simon, your injuries were much worse than mine when we arrived, I insist that I help in some way. Simon: Yes but I have healed much faster than you and can do more than you right now Ava: Yes well I *progresssivly louder insistance of work from each person* Grace: Wow I'm so lucky to have found such hard working and motivated new friends

Thing I thought up while on pain meds

Hey so y'all remember that headcanon where Grace is in charge of science communication?

What if small AU where politicians prefer talking to Grace significantly more than Stratt or any other scientist on the task force. Stratt brought him along once he was able to break down stuff and answer their questions so easily they ask for him back every meeting afterwards.

What would have usually been many hours of explaining why they need funding for something and how they can't do it any other way, was shortened to a little over half an hour of answering questions and doing demonstrations with a handful beanbags he seemingly pulled from nowhere.

It was by far the easiest meeting Stratt had ever been to. As they leave, she plans to tell Grace he will be the main scientist attending these with her. Unfortunately he is busy puking his guts out saying how he barely held it in till the meeting was over and please never bring me back to one of these I will die.

Whoever she brings to replace him is trying to explain why they need funding for something, and the world leader are just like "Yeah we're gonna need the other guy."

Eva's external dialog: I will see if Dr. Grace is free for a meeting Eva's internal dialog: Dr. Grace has puked every time I even hint at bringing him to another one of these meetings

One meeting gets so bad that Stratt just calls Carl and tells him to put Grace on the phone. Without telling him he's on speaker in a room of world leaders she asks him to explain a bunch of the things they are arguing about. The meeting is over within 15 minutes.

Everyone knows the first day of Friend Grace’s class is nickname day. It’s the day when every pebble is on their best behavior to try and make sure they get a cool nickname, something unique that they can brag to their friends and classmates about.

Sometimes, Grace will do it without thinking. That’s how Kiddo and Buddy got their nicknames. Often, Grace will nickname students after their coloration. Gaia got his nickname because he’s blue and green, and apparently looks a lot like Earth. Violet got hers because she’s purple. (She was initially disappointed since color means nothing to Eridians, but then Friend Grace showed them violet flowers and said that humans often associated purple with wealth and royalty, and she changed her tune.) Most of the time, Grace will give his students what he calls “regular human names” like Abby, Carl, or Martin.

But the most coveted nicknames are ones named after Earthen creatures. When ♩♪♬ 🎵 ♩♪♬ 🎵 first introduced themselves, Friend Grace immediately perked up and shouted “Robin!” After a bit of explaining himself and a few videos of bird calls, Robin was trilling and chirping happily, excited at having a nickname that felt like a 1-to-1 translation of their own.

Even well after Friend Grace is gone, his legacy remains. A hundred years into the future, when humankind finally launches a new ship with the express purpose of properly meeting their Eridian neighbors, one of the first messages exchanged is “Hello! My name Robin.”

Erid and Earth ideas:

Both planets are extremely isolated from other planets with sentient, they are each others closest neighbor.

Eventually Earth and Erid find a way to do quick travel between planets

One of the most popular tourist destinations for eridians on earth is the Middle School where Grace taught.

America is so fucking smug about the fact that an American made first contact.

Grace's bio-dome is considered the Earth embassy, Earth creates a bio-dome near Grace's old house.

I think humans and eridians have the same relationship as dragon rider and dragon. "Hey look at my cool eridian" "Hey look at my cool human"

There is a wikipedia page dedicated to keeping track of earth songs that accidentally say eridian words. The longest and most updated lists are expletives.

It becomes an eridian trend to find a song that says your name

It becomes an earth trend to carry around an instrument and say eridian swear words

Starstruck but they dated before Ryder was super famous (before he was even signed to Gail) and he's Tom's "one that got away" that he never stops thinking about. Like in that 'stop thinking about him' way but that inadvertently leads to him thinking about Ryland more.

WAIT YALL KNOW THAT MEME OF THE POST-ITS ON THAT GUYS CAR DASH THAT SAYS "don't text her" That's Ryder. His thoughts on that are: If I text him I lose the idgaf war. Which will eat his pride and we know how he is about that.

Hey what if platonic starstruck?

Like he would still over play his interest to annoy Colt but when alone he just thinks Grace is a chill guy to be around.
