Jemma’s Recycled Storylines

S2x01 - 2x10

She’s dealing with the aftermath of experiencing a traumatic event with a male. During this traumatic event, the male had expressed romantic feelings for Jemma. She does not reciprocate his feelings. She survives undercover at Hydra. She feels guilty about her feelings, mainly in regards to a certain male, that certain male is angry and hurt. She then has to deal with the after effects of Trips death, including feelings of loss, guilt, and responsibility. 

S3x01- 3x10

She also has her agency taken away because she didn’t get to choose a partner from the canonic love triangle - it was chosen for her.

Wow guys. So much original writing, it’s like, so fresh and innovating and totally not tropey and or something we’ve already seen. Jemma feeling guilty and weeping as she ignores her own pain to take care of someone else all while the guy who canonically has feelings for her dies - WHAT A TWIST! I DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING!!! I MEAN WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT WOULD HAPPEN? THIS SHOW KEEPS YOU GUESSING!

Will Daniels never got to go home. Will Daniels never got to see Jemma again. Will Daniels never got to actually meet Fitz. Will Daniels died alone, and then an alien prick wore him to the prom. Will Daniels deserved better.

FINALLY WE DISCOVER WHAT THESE ARE!?

​TVAD | If Will has been alone for 14 years, what do you think he’s been doing every day? What was his routine? How has he passed the time and survived?

DC | ... He’s been playing. There’s a game that he had that he was playing that got cut out of the show. I don’t want to give it away that it was a game because fans have started to see these little markings around the show. The reason they see them in one scene and not in another because it was cut out. And now it’s starting to look like–those hints of what that scene was–fans are starting to read into it like it’s some kind of weird mark that got changed on purpose. (X)

I really, really hope that one of the 'big' twists will be Ward and Fitz getting killed on that planet or at least get left behind.

I’m convinced that Fitz is gonna end up sacrificing himself to try to make sure Will makes it back? Not that he’ll die necessarily, but that he’ll end up left behind on the planet. Or maybe he’ll die. I’m so beyond caring about him.

I hope Ward dies, of course, but I really would prefer one of the women he has wronged to kill him? I feel like Coulson doing it would be rewarding a really shitty…thing.

Ugh. Here’s hoping for some good twists, yeah.

Might be interesting if the writers have Fitz do something stereotypically heroic like sacrificing himself for Will.

Throughout all the seasons Fitz “struggles” because he isn’t a masculine hero, doesn’t see himself as a hero, etc. And Ward made that jab at him by calling him a boy. Fitz could finally become the “manly hero” and “save the day”, but it would come at the cost of his own life. I do seriously cringe at the idea of that death scene. Fitz telling Will to look after Jemma while Will is all WTF? and Fitz responding with some line like, I told Jemma I’d bring you home.

As a shipper, I’d dislike what that would do to the love triangle. Jemma wouldn’t have made a decision, it would have been made for her and then we would spend the next half of the season watching her in mourning. (I’m already highly suspicious/worried that Will is going to die next episode.) Since Will’s introduction episode he has been mentioned in every following episode and his face has appeared on screen in every episode except the last one. It seems like they are building up to something. Probably making the point of his death to prevent FS from getting together, and then we will have to watch all of that ish for the rest of the season. 

I just want a good twist! I don’t want to lose hope, I don’t want to believe that this season is leading up to some bs shitty predictable storyline. I want to believe there is some major twist that will make it all better.

ok i'm torn. i think i loved the episode cause we got so much jemma, which is always good, and we got so much wardsimmons and fitzward and just original team. and i'm actually super happy ward kidnapped them cause i REALLY needed to watch another jemma/ward confrontation. but i hated that another woman died + another woman was tortured - specially since fitz is the one that will be getting the hero medal instead of jemma [part 1]

[part 2] and we will have to hear the fs fandom talk about: 1. jemma “finally” fighting for him; 2. jemma loving fitz more than will cause she would sacrifice the world for him; or other fandoms saying she never truly loved fitz cause she would also sacrifice him for the good of the world. i can’t fucking believe she will have to make this decision AGAIN. and she still won’t be crowned the hero and queen she is.

i literally looked at my roommate last night and yelled I’M ACTUALLY ENJOYING AN EPISODE OF SHIELD HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE because most of the time nowadays i’m fucking bored

i think what was great about this episode was that it gave us, the audience, some “closure” in a weird way. we finally saw the original team talking about ward - and not in the hyper-aggressive unreasonable way they usually do. it was weirdly cathartic to see skye admit that she understands ward, to see fitz admit that they were brothers, to see jemma admit that she liked him and wanted to bone him cared about him. 

but you’re right: it is SUPREMELY IRRITATING that all of the white, narratively-privileged men are going to get the main action and glory in the midseason finale. 

rosalind was fridged so bogusly it’s almost laughable. like, i shouldn’t be surprised, because aos will literally sacrifice anyone as long as it’s not coulson, or arguably fitz, but it was shockingly misogynistic. she was killed EXCLUSIVELY to upset coulson. that is textbook fridging. 

and jemma being tortured? suuuure why fucking not. the narrative has proven time and time again that hurting jemma doesn’t bother anyone one bit. and we don’t even get the dignity of seeing her withstand it, seeing her triumph in the face of it. it’s, of course, all about fitz’s reaction. just like her episode in space was, supposedly, all about fitz’s reaction. jemma is used as a prop. it could’ve just as easily been a recording of her screaming, because the actual of affect of the torture on jemma doesn’t seem to matter. 

in summary: this show is disgusting.
