When a white person embraces black culture, the media embraces the culture but not the black people who shared with us. Kylie gets braids, media embraces braids, media never embraced the black people who shared braids as a style with us. Taylor swift gets video of the year for a sub-par hip hop themed video, media gives her video of the year but doesn't embrace artists like Nicki Minaj who had similar videos that execute authentic hip-hop culture way better. We're embracing hip-hop culture, black culture but we only embrace it when white people wear it. It's like if you have a friend who copies you all the time and people only think it's cool when she does it, but you did it for real and they pretend they never saw it until she did it. Culture appropriation is real and I want to share with you so we can all understand and move forward consciously, the full video will be on Facebook/YouTube soon.
