“Well that’s such a joy to learn,” he dryly commented, pulling some photos into a pile and sorting the others in a folder, in an order following a logic only known to him. It was nothing sophisticated. He’d simply decided to put those he liked the least on top, so he could finish scrolling through them with those he found best.
“Those were not your feelings,” his tone was not quite like the professor’s yet clashed with the one he had adopted back then. What an embarrassment it was. Sawyer woke up the next morning absolutely mortified, and fearing for his life, which was a great combo only fit for a shitty day. Somehow, figuring out that he’d woken up in Evie’s body changed his priorities real quick.
“And my reaction was not… my reaction.” Not really. Everything he could feel had been amplified to the maximum. He knew he could snap more easily when tired, but this had been even worse.
“I’m sorry, alright. You didn’t deserve to be spoken to like this,” no one did, but Sawyer especially didn’t like to show his elders and professors any sign of disrespect. Raziel was not his enemy, even if he sometimes doubted it to be entirely true. “Can we just pretend that didn’t happen?”
“You’ve been here long enough that you should have known that. You wanted to avoid me so I didn’t seek you out. You are here meaning you are through with your little embarrassment,” Raziel stated simply. Raziel watched him closely as he sorted the photos, humming in agreement when he saw a well photo. “You really should take my class. All teasing aside, I would enjoy watching your skills develop.”
Raziel never thought he would actually enjoy teaching. Enjoy watching someone learn and grow, but since coming to the island it’s slowly become one of his passions. “So you know my feelings so well, then?” He asked raising an eyebrow. He wondered how Sawyer would react if his feelings were real, would he still be emotional, he assumed so. Raziel thought the boy was a loose canon.
“It was partly your reactions, maybe slightly heightened, but the idea of someone loving you, caring about you seems impossible. Why do you think that is?” He asked curiously.
“You don’t need to apologize. I don’t like pointless apologies and you’ve done nothing wrong. Trust me, if you did I would have let you know.” Raziel mostly found Sawyer amusing and interesting. He seemed broken and Raziel liked broken things. “Ignoring it until something else like that happens again, because being here, it might.”
