Republican men want women to limit Birth Control, not have Abortions but donāt understand why men should help to pay for Prenatal Care?
GOP is not really āpro lifeā.
*Republican men want to control women and make life harder for everyone. *
And these are the same fuckers who think women (because lbr, theyāre transphobic as hell) should have to get male permission to abort (at least until they can āeliminateā the option completely).
So they want āmenā to be able to decide what happens to āwomenāsā bodies but they donāt think āmenā should have to offer any financial assistance (not even to the extent of it being a covered service on insurance).
Theyāre fucking nasty, honestly.
Thatās right.
Conservatives now want to stop insurence coverage for prenatal care. Thatās correct. They want to make it even more expensive to have a baby than it already is. This is making that $500 out-of-pocket abortion look like a great deal by comparison.
Visits, vitamins, ultrasounds, medication switches, etc.
What? They also took away your affordable birth control? Donāt have sex!
Didnāt gave good sex ed and you got pregnant? Donāt have an abortion! Have the baby!
What now? Canāt pay out of pocket for that? Donāt get pregnant in the first place, duh!
Like this is getting seriously ridiculous now. They are trying to make it impossible for anyone who isnāt at least upper middle class to have sex or god forbid, try to have a baby. This is trying to stop the poor from having kids at all.
Where are all the pro-lifers speaking out against this? Iāll wait.
āI had a patientā¦who really did not want an abortion but who had no resources to cover the costs of prenatal care of childbirth. She was single and without insurance coverage but made just enough money to be ineligible for state assistance. She already had outstanding bills at the hospital and with the local ob-gyn practice. No doctor would see her without a payment up front. We were willing to do the abortion for a reduced rate or for free if necessary. But she really didnāt want an abortion. Once I understood her situation, I went to the phone and called the local ācrisis pregnancy center.ā
āHello, this is Dr. Wicklund.ā Dead silence. I might as well have said I was Satan. āHello?ā I said again. āThis is Dr. Wicklund.ā āHello,ā very tentatively, followed by another long silence. āI need help with a patient,ā I said. āShe came to me for an abortion, but she really doesnāt want one. What she really needs is someone to do her prenatal care and birth for free.ā āWhat do you expect us to do?ā I let that hang for a minute. āWell, maybe this is your chance to save a baby. Isnāt that your mission? Here you are. My suggestion is that you find her the care she needs, or she will be forced to have an abortion.ā āBut no one does free prenatal care and births.ā āWhat about Dr. Abott? He is always publicly preaching about the evils of abortion. Why donāt you call him and see if heāll put his money where his mouth is? Tell him I am willing to do the abortion for free, but it wonāt be necessary if he can match my offer.ā In this case, it worked. Dr. Abott provided her prenatal care and birth without charge, although he reminded her of his noble gesture at every visit. The young woman came by several times to let us know how things were going.
āHe always moans about being tricked into the deal,ā she told us. āThen he goes off on these tirades against abortion.āā - from Dr. Susan Wicklundās This Common Secret
