Chapter One: Deep in the Enchanted Forest

 Three days earlier…

Zarina Jones landed, cracking her wrist on the hard ground beneath the pile of leaves the portal tossed her into. She suppressed a groan. Then using her uninjured hand, she pushed herself over to lie on her back. Her gaze lingered on the fluttering canopy while sunlight shimmered over her body.

She wasn’t in Maine anymore. Sun was a rarity in the winter months. This was not Thanksgiving weekend Maine weather.

With a sign, she focused her attention on her wrist. It was rapidly swelling and any sensation in her fingers was dulling down. She cradled it against her chest while schooling her reactions in a bid not to cry. This type of physical pain was no longer normal for her. Not since she had blazed out of Storybrooke in a forty-year-old Mazda MX-5 Miata two years earlier with the vow to only visit in the Summer and holiday weekends. Maybe that’s why she was caught out. Her quiet life had dulled her senses.

Sorry that it took me so long to write this! I’ve had the craziest past two weeks. I struggle with chronic pain and it’s been on bitch of a week so focusing enough to write has been a struggle. I hope to have another story or update done this week! Let me know if you want me to continue with this story. I think it could be kind of fun to write another chapter! There sure is a lot of possibilities! This idea just kind of came to me. And I mean we all have a list… No? Just me? Okay… heheheh I hope you enjoy!

“I think this is the last of it. Is this really all you own?” Killian questioned with a rather large box in hand, kicking the door shut with his foot before swaggering back to Emma. He set it down on the dining room table amongst the other boxes while she smiled endearingly up at him from the floor where she was sorting some old childhood photos and knick knacks.

“Yup, this is it. Seven boxes is the rest of my life. It’s mostly clothes anyways,” The blonde explained, ripping the tape off another package. Emma had just gotten the rest of her belongings out of storage from when she lived in New York from the missing year. She had meant to do it a lot sooner, but between her family, being sheriff again, and the newest threat the Snow Queen, getting her old sweaters and silverware were the least of her worries. She thought she would have to drive back into the city to get her possessions but she was able to get her old neighbor to mail them to her instead, making her life a lot easier. Killian had generously offered to help her unpack and sort her things allowing them to spend some much needed quality time together.

They had been officially dating for just a few weeks and things were surprisingly going very well. He had broke down her walls and proved to her and her family that he was worthy of their trust. Even her father had taken a shine to her new boyfriend. Emma was pulled from her train of thought when her phone rang. She quickly reached for it on the kitchen table before picking it up.

“Sheriff Swan,” She answered officially. “Oh, that was fast. Thanks I’ll be there in two minutes,” Emma responded with a delighted smile upon her face.

“Who was that, love?” Killian asked as he tore open another box with his hook. He really did look for any excuse to use that thing.

“It was Granny. Our food is ready to be picked up. I’ll be right back,” She told slinging her purse around her shoulder before heading for the door.

“Are you sure you don’t want be to come with you?” He replied walking towards her.

“No it’s okay. I’ll just be gone a second,” Emma smiled with a sarcastic twinkle in her eye. Leaning in she placed a chaste kiss to his lips before making her way back to the door.

“I’ll miss you,” Killian voiced, calling to his Swan. She flashed him a saucy grin, rolling her eyes at him.

“I’ll miss you, too,” Emma laughed, closing the loft door with a soft thud. Once his girlfriend had left he went back to his task of opening boxes and sorting their contents. He lifted a particularly heavy one onto the table, tearing the flaps open. The package was filled with a variety of books and what appeared to be journals.

And then debating the merits of a longer trip by sailing around the Cape of Good Hope.

To the world looking in, Storybrooke, Maine had the air of a typical coastal town. The day dawned, the sun rising over the harbour and lightening the gently lapping waves. People made their way to work. To school. To visit family. Henry Mills-Jones was one such person. He rose to the sound of his alarm clock blaring, his bed cold and his head pounding from the long night. However, he pushed through his morning grogginess to push the comforter from his body and throw his legs over the edge of the bed.

For a strapping forty-year-old, Henry was certain he was still too young to be feeling out of it. He rolled his shoulders as he walked over to the desk, looking out the window and down onto the street below. This residential area of the town was always quiet. His eyes moved to a large book open on the desk. The old oak chair creaked as he sat down.

My favourite thing is seeing how many of us got some sort of iteration of “Mon El isn’t coming back” in our asks and all our responses being like he is confirmed for season 3…

It is even better. We know that this ending means 3 things, all excellent for us Mon-El fans & Karamel shippers.

1. Mon-El IS COMING BACK EARLY season 3. Not only because Chris Wood is confirmed but also because of the way the story is written. Him being the cliffhanger = the show addressing this immediately after starting season 3. I will probably write a meta later explaining how this works in the Flarrowverse with examples for the dense ones (how to know when a storyline/ character is over and how to know when is not for dummies - writing TV shows 101, volumen 1).

2. This storyline and the details mean Karamel epic ENDGAME (ILY + necklace + comparison to Lois Lane = he is the fucking love of Kara’s life). She won’t even try to move on because she will feel devastated and so guilty. Again, if you think that L*na is her new love interest you are delusional and/ or dumb. Kara doesn’t trust her. Kara didn’t tell her that she is Supergirl. She doesn’t trust her enough to risk her to know. And J*mes has been friendzoned even harder. Again, all the clues are in the writing.

3. The path to become a superhero (VALOR IS RISING) in all stories follow a number of well known steps (the hero arch). This includes the metaphorical death of the hero. Mon-El is getting it now and he has already followed all the previous steps. This means that his hero arch is moving forward to the rise of Valor. Not that we didn’t know it, Chris specifically said that there is a supersuit and that his hero arch continues in season 3. But again, all the clues are in the writing.

In summary:

- Mon-El is coming back in early season 3.

- Karamel is endgame and epic.

- Valor is rising and Mon-El will be recognised as a hero soon.

- If you don’t know this you have not been paying attention and/ or are delusional and/ or dumb.

And for the ones without comic knowledge:

- The permanent cure for lead poisoning that would give him immunity already exists in this Universe and Kara has access to it and it is the Flight Ring. (or depending of canon a superserum produced by the Legion).

- The Legion of Superheroes has access to time travel and travel through space. Do you want to bet that they find him and he/ them return on time for the crossover event in episode 8? How cool will it be when Valor saves the Earth and reunites with Kara? They will break the coach this time, just saying.

Alright, I find these questions odd and I’m curious what you’re fishing for.

No. Jennifer Morrison is an adult and a professional. She doesn’t need to “run” away from anything. (What would make you phrase it like that?) She had very good reasons, both personal and professional, for wanting to move on, and clearly ABC didn’t come to the table with enough to make those reasons not weigh with her. It’s unfortunate, but it’s business. 

Or is distancing herself from it?

Dude, it’s only been a week, how could we even tell if she was distancing herself from it?  The woman did a full round of exit interviews where she spoke in nothing but glowing terms about the character, the show and A&E.  What else do you want for her?  

Also isn’t distance from something inherent when you’re no longer a part of it? Are you upset because she’s not constantly tweeting about a show in hiatus that she no longer works for? Even if she were coming back full-time next season, I don’t think we would have see much difference in her social media or media presence over the week or so. Really I’m at loss to figure out what you want from her.  

If she is, do you blame her? Think about how you feel about her leaving, how sad and bereft you’ve felt since it was announced and then put yourself in her shoes. It’s her life. She was clearly very attached to Emma and her story and journey. She’s saying goodbye to that too, and she knows fans and her former coworkers are disappointed by her decision, that has to to be hard. Plus she’s going through a huge life change. No more steady pay check. No more routine of working with the same group of people day in and day out.  Change is hard. And it’s hard whether you’re an adult or not, whether you’re famous or not, and whether you want it or not. 

Cut her some slack and stop looking for hidden meaning in every damn things she does.

As someone in her thirties watching OUAT

I have to say something.

I’ve seen this post today mentioning Rapunzel’s age on Tangled, and I was thinking about how in all the fairy tales the princesses are usually 18 (maybe even less, never more). 

When I was a child they have always seemed to me so adult, so mature. I couldn’t wait to get to this age and become a woman of my own (and if it comes with a prince, even better).

But then the years pass (still no prince in sight in case you were wondering), but I finally do feel like a woman. And as such, I look back at age 18, and I don’t see it as an age where I was really an adult. I truly didn’t know anything about life yet back then. I didn’t know who I was, not for real anyway. And I just look at these princesses now, from the wisdom of my age, and just think, whoa, whoa, what’s the rush? You have your all life in front of you to get to know yourself, then meeting that prince (or princess, or even no one in particular). All these fairy tales seem even more unreal somehow.

But then it suddenly hit me, my favorite princess is actually a woman in her thirties:

Her fairy tale story began when she turned 28 and not 18!

No offence to those of you who are still teenagers or in their early twenties, trust me, one day you will maybe understand this post better, or maybe you are even getting it now, but I just want to take this post to acknowledge the fact that A&E chose the proper age for their princess to began her journey as a swan in oppose to a duckling. 

Emma of age 18 was thrown into jail, and had a baby she gave away for adaption because she was still immature. She was led by the guy she thought was her “prince charming” right into a jail cell, and pregnant, probably because she was still a child who didn’t know herself enough to realize she needs to put herself first (or to use protection…).

It took her 10 more years to come to the point in which she truly knew who Emma Swan was. To become an adult. To be really able of becoming the hero, the savior, the princess.

She regain her son when she was at the right age to become a mother:

She regain her parents certainly at a very old age, but at the age she could tell them how she really felt  

But also forgive them from a mature prospective

She was able to use what she learned about herself during her entire life, to fully fulfill her role as the savior and the princess

 And she met her true prince (well, pirate) after she knew exactly what she was looking for, what she needed from him, and what she deserves

Don’t get me wrong, at this age people don’t just stop being a little childish

The young spirit is always there at any age. But I feel like Emma (and all of us at this range of ages) knows just a little more about life itself, and she was taking the role of the mature princess at the age it was truly designed for.

I’ve been thinking about this too. One thing that came to mind was about being the Author, aren’t there rules to being the author? If Henry broke the rules of being the Author to be with someone, that is pretty epic in itself. A&E also mentioned looking at some of the newer Disney Characters too. 

I don’t think they’d pick anyone ordinary for Henry. There aren’t too many options for Lucy’s mom based on her look from the Princess we know pool. I know some people have been suggesting Moana but since he is a generational child, there is a possibility that his wife is also a generational child and born of 2 other characters. 

I’m curious to see what is to come. They’ve explored lots of genres so it could be anyone. I’m excited to see what kind of life they’ve given Henry. Honestly I think he’s a realm traveler since he’s an author, I believe he has that capability to create portals and travel.

Could she be Esmerelda, who is a gypsy and who is persecuted by Frollo? I’ve never seen the Disney version, but I’m sure it’s not tragic like the book. Perhaps that’s why Henry’s separated from her - she’s imprisoned, and he has to take care of the daughter while trying to get her out.

A thought I had was the mother could be Melody - who is Ariel and Eric’s daughter in the Little Mermaid sequel. But I’m not certain Lucy fits the look -
