Home for the night.
Quiet airport morning….if you don’t count the 6 people I’m traveling with.

Each year, I consider how to mark Memorial Day. I do it in many ways: I think about the formerly enslaved Americans who began it with a ceremony to decorate mass graves of Union dead. I think about its antecedents in Decoration Day, a day to adorn graves of fallen soldiers with flowers, making it a remembrance and a rite of spring. I think of how we now call it a “holiday” - literally Holy Day - and what it means to be “Holy”. In this moment, I’ll mark it with this photo of blood red tomatoes, a uniquely American fruit.

Beltane tipple, posted a bit late because I could get tumblr posting to work. I’ve never seen a brand try so hard to put themselves out of business.
