I really want to draw a Ranpo comic but I have no ideas
I received a graphic tablet and now I can use colors comfortably
I want display graphic tablet
!!?!?!??!??!?!
Oh, yeah. The artwork has a continuation
A photo of Ranpo's father
Ranpo misses him very much. I think he subconsciously copied his quiet, cool charisma, the one he remembered from his childhood
A weakened sense of anxiety gives a very good impetus to ideas
Something I don’t see discussed a lot (but maybe I’m just late to the party) is the unique way Poe speaks in BSD, using literary sentence patterns in a way that others often don’t. He uses “dearu,” “nodearu,” and varying conjugations of such, which is something seen more in high literature than in common speech.
Even among the Guild, he seems to be unique in this way. Hawthorne speaks very formally, and Lovecraft… well, hard to tell with how little he speaks. But Poe is the only one who seems to use the literary patterns among the Guild.
And of course, he uses the pronoun “wagahai,” which carries Natsume Soseki implications and is almost exclusively used in Japanese fiction by haughty animals (sounds kinda like a cat using the royal “we”).
I think the English translation of BSD does a great job of preserving the context as much as possible, but idk there’s something so charming about the original Japanese dialogue. I couldn’t possibly replicate it in my own fics. But it’s fun to think about.
And in fact, it comes directly from Poe’s writing! Here’s a passage from the Japanese version of the Murders in the Rue Morgue. I picked a passage where he uses it a lot, but it’s neat to see it reflected in the source material!
Ranpo!!!

I recently received a wonderful nib that draws very finely, but while I was drawing, I ruined my ink, causing the lines to become thick. I had to order exactly the same one
I feel a little awkward posting these types of sketches because I don't usually allow myself to draw things like that
For the first time, I liked how I drew his waist
What would happen if Teruko and Ranpo met? They have so much in common, especially the fact that their adoptive fathers are best friends. Moreover, they have a similar character trait - infantilism. It's even a bit sad that I see almost no content from them.
I think they will be at odds with each other because of their personalities, but they will clearly have common topics for conversation.
Poe is cool because he's friends with birds.
I really liked someone's sketch on Twitter and I was wondering if I could capture the same coolness

not a ship, but I like this duo
I haven't posted anything for about five years, just drawing for myself and, at most, my friends. Maybe I should share it publicly sometimes.
What's in a sketch doesn't necessarily have to be a ship. I like their dynamic, especially Ranpo himself.
After liking the same character for so long, I started to feel a bit embarrassed to draw them, so I'm trying to push past my own limitations.
Honestly now that we've got both versions of Ranpo's glare during his breakdown, I'd say both are good in their own way.
Adachi's style gives Ranpo an unusual sharp look that I absolutely adore, whereas Harukawa's version feels more intense. You can see Ranpo isn't just angry but also on the verge of crying. And also how he is just a kid...

(I want to try and draw my own version now :x)
