It’s late at night in the base of Sector L, vents and pipes were quiet and the robots seem to have moved away for now. Most of the members were asleep but Game Case was sitting by the walls of the med bay, thinking deeply about tonight. She knew it was special but—how could it be celebrated, most of the stuff was ruined for a while.
Game Case lightly smacks back against the wall in contemplation only to be interrupted by the sound of footsteps as VHS approaches her, “saw you sulking, something up?” Game Case groans, “I wanna do something fun for Halloween but, no candy, no costumes. I know I’m an adult but—it feels lonely I guess,” she hugs her knees, looking down at the cracked flooring.
Taking pity, VHS rolls his eyes and softly sighs, “go gather your friends,” Game Case looks up surprised and confused but he doesn’t repeat. “Meet me in the med bay when you gather them,” confusion changed to curiosity, Game Case got up and went to the back of the base. Minutes pass and she comes back with Clip, Velvet, Broccoli and Spool. “Um, I got them like you said VHS,” “Good,” He moves to sit down by the bed, looking between the bed and the group in attempt to signal. Both Game Case and Spool took notice and helped the smallie trio up, all 5 collected.
VHS waits for them all to be ready, speaking again once all the movement calms down, “now I know we don’t have any screens for Halloween movies or candy to share with you all but I’m not letting the moping slide, so I’d say buckle up.”
The group prepares while VHS begins his story.
“I was on work day 17 when it happened, I was an intern, working under the location of Area J, Sector I for supervision. My trainer was Coal during that time and while I was there an old friend of mine named Cara Cara worked with me, we were both the same age and were tasked to clean a disposal room, every time it was used, we cleaned it up so it can be safely used again, simple cycle. The floors were slick like grease and the mop and sponges always got damaged, but it was a task, I didn't want to loose my position over tool complaints.
Me and him were talking about possible combinations and opinions over medications, mostly on what would make those sick if mixed. While we were talking, we heard churning from inside the walls and the door, some idiot—whoever it was, got the machine got activated while we were still cleaning.
I didn’t even notice the platted walls moving until Cara Cara yelled my name,” VHS closed his eyes, “even then I didn’t have enough time to react before I was promptly shoved out. Everything and nothing happening in mere seconds, drips and hisses of acid, the violent screams as tools and cleaning supplies turn from bubbling plastic—into toxic smoke that would burn into your mind until your last breath. And before you could pry that breakable door a blink would’ve been too late, that room left nothing more than red rivers, glistening down the same stinging floor and into the drain.”
VHS opens his eyes with hints of tears and he pauses to collect, “I still believe it was a murder attempt, in the end it’s why I never, ever trusted disposal rooms, ever again!” He snaps a little but sighs out the stress, “well, you can sleep in here if you wish.” VHS walked some ways from the group and too the light switch, the kids looked confused and worried, while Game Case and Spool were horrified, Spool hesitantly asking, “D-Disposal rooms don’t exist, right?” VHC pauses turning around, “if you wanna know then I can give you advice, stay far away from sealed tiled rooms disposal room or not.” He turns away and continues, turning off the light and turning back to sit back down, “I’ll be here if you all need me or, need questions.”
“Do we..have any disposal rooms in, here?” Spool asks only to meet a head shake from VHS, “if you’re referring to sector L, no, at least as far as I know of.”
“At least—we don’t have to worry about it,” Game case whispers with a shrug, filled with worry from the story, she keeps close to Spool after he hugs her, placing a close eye on the 3 smallies as they stick together on the other side of the bed, trying to get enough of the worn out blanket to share.
The night is quiet, and a small scouter bot crawls back into the walls of the med bay.
