Green Core

Hey guys, Tyler here, which means no super cool pictures today, sorry. But hopefully I can satiate your desire for updates with this small story update. We aren’t at the point yet to be handing out sneak peeks yet, but I’ll give you some more general information.

Tranees hoping to be a part of “Project Solstice” are split into small squads of five people. Our protagonists make up GREEN CORE. Now before you go correcting me, yes I meant “core” and not “corpse.” It is their team insignia, I would put a picture up, but i’m still designing it, I have a few ideas. While Green Core is not the only squad we will see in this series, it’s the only one we will follow in depth. I know this update didn’t really tell you a whole lot more about the story, but I’m really trying to pace myself.

Normally I’m not a huge fan of shameless plugs, but please do tell people about our project; it’s a fun project and I want as many people as possible to enjoy these early steps with us.

TWO UPDATES IN TWO DAYS IT MUST BE CHRISTMAS!!!

No guys, It’s not, I just attended comic con this past weekend seeing all of those creators put me in the mood to share more.

So this is Levi, he is the last member of our group of protagonists. He is the oldest in the group but he makes sure that everyone feels comfortable being around each other. He will do anything for his “Family” (the other members of his squad). While the other members of his squad were recruited into the military (at a young age), Levi literally grew up in it. He’s not as serious as Julia is when it comes to his career but when he finds himself in a tense combat situation he is quickly able to assess the situation and do whatever it takes to ensure victory.

Levi fights with a sword, but if it was only a sword I would quickly fall asleep due to pure uninterest. So what did I do to make his sword special. I made it shaped like a big tear drop/leaf with the handle near the bottom of “The Leaf”, the handle rotates so that his big sword and swing around and become a big shield. The shield is bulletproof and Levis sword hand has a glove on it with metal plating so that his hand won’t be shot while crouching behind it. He can also use the rotation of the sword to spin the blade at lighting fast speeds so when he makes contact with the target, it is going to slice through it like a lightsaber cutting through a small bundle of green peas (sorry for the really weird simile, I’m very tired). Levi’s sword also vibrates at a very low frequency, it’s not noticeable, but it helps cut through harder materials...or rock hard green peas (I’m also very hungry).

----FUN TIDBITS!!

-I created levi before I even had the Idea for project solstice. I had written a short story about “The Shield-Swordsmen.” When I sat down to write this story I thought that this character I previously created would fit well.

----BONUS FUN FACT

-”Levi” was originally just a placeholder name, but by the time I was looking at other possible names, I had used Levi too many times in the script and was too lazy to go back and change it (And I also fell in love with the name and thought it would be weird to change it)

----and now the part where Talia comes out to explain her genius in the visual appearance of the characters.

I wanted to make Levi have the "protagonist" look about him; strong build, defined facial features, and a kind face.

I can’t thank you guys enough for supporting our little start up, I hope you have all enjoyed our updates so far...but sadly this is the last update, we are cancelling the project. you’ll never see us again....EVER. Just kidding we’ll be back soon for another update.

ERMEGERD!

I know the whole “ermergerd” thing is a little old, but I still love it.

So now I get to introduce you to Liam...I love Liam. Even though I love all of my character equally, I love writing Liam the most. Even though he is the youngest member of the squad, he is a force to be reckoned with; he specializes in explosives but the true extent of his skill is known only by a select few. He is innocent with a hint of pyromania, and for all of you wondering, his favorite color is green. You would never catch Liam without his trusty poncho, it’s a perfect mixture of comfortable and baggy for maximum mobility.

Even though He is a explosives expert, some doubt his techniques. Liam is a firm believer that if the explosives are good enough, you don’t need high tech delivery devices. He shoots his small disk explosives out of a slingshot...A SLINGSHOT. He also duct tapes those same bombs to hatches (that way he can lodge said explosives into people...he’s somewhat psychotic.) He has some more combat training, but you’ll have to wait till the book comes out to see that.

Fun Fact: Liam wears a poncho because I myself like wearing Ponchos, badges, and/or other baggy clothes when I write...It’s VERY comfortable.

I wanted Liam to look like that goof-off everyone loves to have in their class; he's funny, silly, and lovable, and he's very aware of this.

A Little Bit About Me

Tyler: So I realized that I haven’t introduced myself yet on the blog, so here is a list appropriately titled “Some Random Facts About Me That Probably Won’t Affect You in Any Capacity Whatsoever.” LET’S DO THIS! I’m a nerd (like a huge nerd) my manga/comic collection is now taller than me (and I’m not a short person). One of my biggest passions, besides food, is storytelling; while this isn’t my first comic I’ve written, it’s the first that I’ve decided to take the next step in producing (my ADHD mind however is as active as ever and i’m already working on two other series).

PEOPLE I FIND INSPIRATIONAL

- Hajime Isayama: writer of attack on titan (the manga is superior to the anime)

- J.R.R. Tolkien: see also: creative genius

- Monty Oum not only was he an amazing fight coordinator, he inspired me to be the greatest creator I could be.

Tyler: So last time I introduced you to Andrew, now you guys get to meet his scary counterpart. This is Andrew's twin Julia. Out of the two them, she didn’t get any of the “fun genes”.  She is very career oriented, and will go to any lengths to be accepted into the “Solstice Project”. She often has to keep the rest of the team in line.

Julia wields two guns, One is a sub machine guns, the other is a small shotgun. Unlike the other characters there are no gimmicks to these guns, but if you think that that is going to make Julia a boring normal soldier you're wrong. She is very nimble and the light on her feet. She also does a lot of kicking when it comes to close quarters. Julia’s fighting style was inspired by Zero suit samus in the latest smash bros game, lots of shooting, and lots of acrobatics.

Fun Fact: The names Julia and Andrew came from the actor Julie Andrews...I don’t know why but when I was thinking about names I saw something about her on the internet and was like “huh...she has two first names...guess I could use those.”

AND NOW SOME WORDS FROM TALIA!!

Talia: Despite the fact that they are twins, I tried to make them look like complete opposites. I did this by contrasting the way they wear their uniforms, how the hold themselves and their general attitude

Tyler: And with that we have to take another break from posting updates for a tad while I try to sort out what else I want to release right now.

...AAAAAAAAND WE’RE BACK!

Tyler: I finally managed to pull myself out from under my pile of manga to bring our next character intro.

This hot slab of man is named Andrew. He firmly believes in two things:

getting the job done

and making sure you look awesome while doing it.

He is a goofball, getting the team to perform it’s best while keeping it light hearted is his specialty. Fear is not a word in Andrews vocabulary, the only thing that scares him is his twin sister Julia (in his defence, she is really scary).

Andrew is armed with a fully automatic rifle with a large musket at the end of it. When I was making the concept for his fighting style I was rewatching RWBY (if you haven’t watched it stop everything and check it out...it’s on netflix) I loved how in the show all of their swords, lances, and scythes were also guns, I stared wide eyed at how they used the blades and bullets to create a unique fighting style. I wanted Andrew to have a weapon that let me choreograph fights like that; instead of going the RWBY route, however, I decided that I wanted to make it more of a gun than a blade. Don’t be discouraged though, he will use his musket as much as he shoots people.

Fun Fact: Andrew’s original name was Andros, it was later changed because I thought Andrew fit him better, and I had to constantly take a few seconds to remember how an apostrophe worked with a name that ends with an “s”.

Now it’s time for me to crawl under a quilt of comics.

IT’S HERE! IT’S FINALLY HERE!

Tyler: I know you guys have probably assumed that we were long dead by now, but I’m here to reassure you that we are in fact not dead...we’re just lazy (not really, Talia is working super hard to make this happen). I’m so stoked to reveal our first character.

This is Ava, she is like a big toddler. What I mean is that she is very extreme when it comes to emotion; if she is happy she is ecstatic, there is no emotional middle ground (her emotions go from zero to sixty in about 2.5 seconds). She normally tends to be positive and is unaffected by others sour moods, but when she gets serious she is unstoppable. She also has a huge crush on one of our other characters.

This bring me to the weapon she wields. As I previously stated this is an action adventure, and what does every good action series have...BIG GUNS! Ava uses a sniper rifle, but if it was a normal sniper that would be boring. Her sniper is two guns in one, there is a small latch next to the safety and when flipped the handle/trigger slides out to reveal a large pistol. I know what you’re thinking “why would she ever take the pistol out?” This is so she can be more effective in close ranged combat (also it makes for some really cool action sequences). Then when she is done, she slides the pistol back into the hollow section of the sniper, thus making it a sniper rifle again. There is so much more I want to talk about, but I have to leave some things in the dark so that it’s a surprise when you read the book.

Talia: I wanted to make her have a softer, curvy, cuter look. I thought it would fit her bubbly personality well.

Hi guys!  I thought it was about time I introduce myself-

I’m Talia, the artist for Project Solstice! :) A little about me: I love drawing, classical music, and dark chocolate.  And I am SO PUMPED for this graphic novel, you guys have no idea.  I have already fallen in love with the characters and am very excited to share my sketches with you guys very soon! :)

Story Update #1

     Hey guys, Tyler here, and I’m bringing you the first inside look of Project Solstice. At the time that this is being written we have two followers (my personal tumblr(which i never use) and Talia’s Tumblr), but hey that puts us leaps and bounds ahead of where we were when I started this project! So down to brass tacks, today I’m here to tell you about the setting of our book. I will give you a broad intro to the story, and specific details will be released along with character intros.

     Project solstice is not set in our universe, however it is set in the near future from where we are now. The government has put its efforts into its military to protect its citizens from the surrounding countries...or so everyone has been told. There are a few resistance groups who want to remake the country to be peaceful, while other groups want to just escalate the violence. Our story follows a squad of 5 soldiers training to be a part of the classified “Project Solstice”, all they know is that it is a collection of elite soldiers created to fight resistance groups.

     Sorry, but that’s all I can say for now. We will release more story information at a later date. Keep checking back for more updates, and maybe even a sneak preview closer to the books release.

Project Solstice
