Come to think of it, maybe the–no, no you don’t think even your therapist knew when your birthday was. There was no records you even existed before the war. 

“A-huh. It’sh STUPID. `spite of telling me I should have shtayed dead, that no-one ever needed me, that I do a bunch of shtupid irresponshible shit just because I’m lonely.” 

Zero’s own mood seems to dip lower and lower, and one could swear his face was going to meld into the countertop. 

“We’re the only two bastards left who know what the other goesh through. You’d think if shomeone thought you were dead and sad about it, he wouldn’t pull every lie in hish ass to get me to hate `im…I don’ get it.” 

"It does matter -- and like, hell, why would you need a certificate to celebrate your birthday? Are you telling me I'd have to have a certificate to celebrate certain holidays? That kind of thinking is kind of narrow -- sure, maybe it might be a proof of something, but I don't think it's definite need for some paper to let you be able to celebrate the day you were born... or the day you choose."

That all spilled out in a flurry of a response, and she took a quick sip of water as if trying to distract herself.

"... Because you're lonely... huh." Jinako repeats, almost understanding, yet not understanding -- but she could understand where he was coming from. If only a little. "I ... think there's a limit of how irresponsible you'd be just because you're lonely -- like maybe considering those around you -- even if you considered yourself alone, maybe, there's those around who care about you. Of course, you can take my words with a grain of salt."

She felt a bit talkative today. A little bit.

"... Guess they think differently about it. Different people, different thoughts on certain things. I don't know whoever you're talking about but, I don't think he's a pleasant guy to be with if he treats you like that."

How did this happen? Well, someone, somehow, liked his dancing. He lied it was his birthday today. He got a lot of free drinks and pretending to be being mildly interested in other people’s mundane stories lead to him losing track of how much he was drinking in the first place. 

Between being drunk and tired both from the day’s work and the dancing, he’s slumped on the bar counter drooling. Whoever’s been listening to his miserable mumbling is a blur to him, and he’s been largely unaware that the bar tender has been giving him water in shot glasses for a while now. 

He has a katana strapped to his belt, and well, you don’t want a drunk samurai taking that out in a public space. Better to not tell him ‘no’. And, a good thing Jinako had decided to be so gracious, as someone stupid might dare try and steal it off of him. 

“I don’t even–I don’ know when my birthday actually ish. No fuckin clue. I deshided, it’sh today, why th`fuck not? Maybe I’ll have today be…birthday for me–then, birthday for other people, tomorrow…next day, whatever.” 

He turns his head to the side, in an attempt to soothe the dizziness. Rested still on the table, empty glasses untouched by a cautious bar tender. 

“The only fucker round here that would know ish an ash-shole, he won’ tell me shit about who I am. I don’ remember shit. I don’ think he knows what he wantsh from me. I jusht wanna be friends.” 

Why was he relaying all this to all sudden to her? Jinako hardly knows the guy - but she sighs, she had decided to keep his company to make sure that he didn't get any trouble, she might as well listen. She grew tired of drinking anyways, settling for a cup of water - while trying to watch others around her and him.

The bar tender gives her apologetic looks ... for well, deciding to be responsible. Well, someone around here had to be - somehow... as much as she tries to take charge - she feels as she's baby sitting an incomprehensible man. The things he says if anything make little sense to her whatsoever, but she opts to listen.

"Man, more power to you - I think, for even just deciding to celebrate it today - but the very least - you made that choice to celebrate it today. Isn't it exciting?"

Now, she was just saying stuff, but she personally thought it was a somewhat mighty cool idea - even if executed poorly. Only for things to derail of the bat.

"Uh - huh..." Shes not sure what to say to that it seemed like very not-Jinako territory. "It doesn't sound nice of them, whoever it is ... wait - spite of all that - you want to be friends?"

“I work at a flower shop…” It’s not anything stressful for sure - but it’s definitely hard when managing questions or other requests. Especially when none of the other staff aren’t nearby.

“Huh… I see. What’s that?”

“ Ohhh… I see I see. “

Certainly when it comes to rules it might be more lax but there’s always stress in customer service. No matter what you do. 

“ Well, it’s not a magic trick or anything but it’s a start. “

The corners of his mouth spring up like someone pulled them. 

“ Now studying craft you work with is of course more important. “

“ …..just smile and fakefriendly politeness. Customers don’t really care if you’re being friendly or just pretending after all. Believe it or not it is something you can practice. “

There might be some background dealing with difficult people here. After all Seiichirou sounds a tad bitter at some points of his explanation.

The guy who was having a time of his life dancing away in the bar, was now a moping mess a next... And who was he exactly moping to? Why of course, if one would think of it, they'd at least leave or do it to someone they know! Right? Right.

But no... Jinako had been the unfortunate victim who was near by a moping man, who therefore turned his attention to her. He's been going on about something for a while, and she hadn't been quite able to escape. It was making her mood sour, but on the other hand, she was a bit worried if she were to leave, someone would've taken advantage of him.

So, she stay put.

"Uh-huh."

"Hey, you're friends with Hakuno~n, right?"

A question she pops up without prompting, if anything something a way of speaking that Jinako was much frequent use of. In spite of her quite deep wariness of the other girl - a Master, a commodity of a person, one she'd rather not spend to much time with. There were many factors in why she'd rather not, but in spite of that, the woman had grown somewhat more used to the other's presence, but still spoke with her with neutrality.

She had found out Ritsuka had claimed the plain brunette as her best friend, which Jinako considered to be quite an ... overarching feat if anything. That girl was ... well, if anything, she'd rather not think too much on it. Many of her past interactions with Hakuno had been... somewhat she'd not like to think back upon. With in good reason, many thanks.

"How is she doin', that kid, anyways? Doing fine, and all?"

“ Absolutely! Think about it; you’ll only deprive yourself of having the hottest outfits in your collection if ya wuss out now. Do you really want to make that choice? Regret it for the rest of your life? Cause let me tell ya, sister. You’re gonna carry that weight everywhere you go. And that’s a burden no one should ever have to deal with. ”

“ Anyway! What kinda stuff do ya like? I’d be more than happy t’ show you around the place, miss..? ”

She at least wants to make a retort of some kind, but Jinako being none the wiser kept her mouth shut. He clearly was trying vouch for his store and get her interest, and while she had some interest -- it seemed way too early for her to decide if she even wanted to try shopping here. But alas, she was here anyways.

"Uh." She looked down at herself, and tried to envision in the clothes that he talked about with seemed too far... in her reach. "I'm not sure. I wasn't the type to be fashion conscious - so I'm clueless - but I think going with something similar... to what I'm wearing... would work? Nothing too hard I guess."

犬 “These are what ships are like here, huh? They’re a lot less… wooden.” After Jinako had accepted Yamato’s invitation out for the evening, the issue had been trying to figure out what they should even do. There was a festival going on across the city with plenty of events, but Yamato had been drawn to the island’s outskirts. Or at least the harbour where there had been a cruise ship with some kind of dance going on inside. 

They didn’t go inside though, and instead were wandering about the outskirts as Jinako explained how to use his phone to him. It was relaxing, informative, and enjoyable all at once. Even if he had to crouch down a lot to see what was going on.

They passed by the doors to the club inside once more, and Yamato piped up. “We don’t have to go in, y’know? I’m fine just hanging out outside. Not like most doors are made to fit someone my size anyways. The stars are comin’ out, too!” Jinako didn’t seem all that socially adjusted. Or at least it made her nervous? That was what he’d come to assume, so he was just being courteous.

“Guess I’ve eaten up a lot of your time today? Sorry about that. But I’ve been havin’ fun!” He rubbed at the back of his neck, looking up at the sky.

“Wooden… Were the ships back in your place mostly made out of wood?” Jinako didn't have any knowledge of such things back in her world… While there might be such travels by ship outside the sphere of control, there weren't even enough resources to go around. She was one of the luckier ones if anything – since her family were well off enough, but she hadn’t left her home for many years. “I don’t know much about the ships back home, but I’ve seen pictures of them… cruises and what not… I think there are still wooden ones.”

Wandering the outskirts was somewhat relaxing – as well as getting to explain how to use the phone to Yamato. It wasn’t something that she did on the usual, but it felt nice trying to explain how to do things

“Well, I’d feel bad if I left you out here alone, you know?” She jokes, “Plus, I’m not suited to places like night clubs especially when alone. I’d just be in the corner and drink, then go home.” A small laugh, but clearly she was going to stick with him no matter the location. “Ah, they’re really coming out… I haven’t seen them in a while.” While she may have felt awkward at first, it seemed that the woman had somehow gotten a little more comfortable.

“No, no, no, don't apologize for that… I’ve been having fun too – really, I mean it.” She gives a meek smile, while also looking up. The stars were really sparkling today.

Seiichirou listens quietly in thought. Socially awkward? That seems to be the case here. Seiichirou can’t say it’s something he’s ever struggled with, as he’s never truly cared how most view him but working in customer service with such issues must be difficult no doubt. 

“ Well, it’d depend largely on what sort of company you’re working in. I’m a salaryman through and through so there’s lots of demands. “

Then again maybe it was the same no matter where you went. 

“ They say customer is god but I’d say it’s more you need to make them feel like god. As long as you don’t treat them badly it should be fine? There’ll be always some sour apples that’ll make your life difficult though so it’s not something you should be too concerned with but… “

– well…. When it comes to being professional there IS one weapon you can use no matter what. “
