For servants, remembering past summonings was an incredibly rare circumstance. Some had vague recollections, others retained none of their previous memories. Perhaps Ereshkigal, too, had forgotten what some would consider important memories. It's all a blur to her as she stands trying to gather herself. Existing one moment, being gone the next, then finding yourself here once again.
A strange feeling, to say the least.
Fragments of memories wash over her, each helping her remember things and people that were supposed to be important--still important--to her. It's a little overwhelming, too, even for a Goddess. Ritsuka, Chaldea, that quaint little café. They still existed; she could feel their presence. Strong and unwavering, as was supposed to be from the master of Chaldea. She'd have to visit her later for sure.
If one were to try to describe it, it was as though she were wading through a river, recollecting every encounter she'd had during previous stays. She remembers all of them, good and bad, until her heart settles on the one who sits at the forefront of what's most important to her.
"--Karna," His name comes spilling out, sudden and a little fumbling. Like she's been holding it in this entire time…as if it were waiting to be remembered. And then comes that same, firm, reverberating presence as she'd felt with Ritsuka, though this time it's much, much stronger. Maybe he'd felt that same pull, too.
Ereshkigal hesitates to turn and face him, but she does after a few moments. She looks stunned at first, incredulous even, unmoving from where she stands. As if doing anything at all would ruin everything, and she'd be pulled back into that void of nothingness she'd been in for who knows how long. She softens just as quickly, eyes once cold now filled with warmth as she edges toward him, but still keeping that hesitant distance. "…Does the light of the sun still reach as far as the depths of the underworld?"
In other words, am I still important to you?
