Good morning to everyone, I will be a little late to class today. Apologies.
It's nearly summer does it even matter, Mr. Macnamara?
You still have finals coming up, so it matters a little.
...I mean. Not really.
It is important, you need to pass your finals. They’re incredibly important to your grade.
Even if I got a good grade I wouldn't pass. It's fine I've acceted it.
I’m sure you would be able to!
Plus I don’t mind offering extra help in my free period or after school if you’d like.
“I’m in a hurry!”
- @maninahurry2000
“I see…Hello Barry!”
“Aiden! Where is your need for speed??? I’m in a hurry!”
“I don’t have your level of speed, Barry. But I do hope you get to wherever you have to go!”
“You absolutely can! You must always hurry!”
All Barry has known was one thing: Hurry!
Aiden was well aware Barry was always in a hurry. He never understood it.
“I really don’t. But it’s not a bad thing, either way.”
John had gone out and bought a special surprise for his darling husband. He held a bag with tissue paper, holding it behind his hands as he entered their home
- @wearawatch0870
Aiden had been home from work for a bit by the time John got home, John seeing him slumped over the dinner table with papers everywhere and his laptop open.
He was stressed and behind on grades. But he seemed to relax a bit as he heard the door open and saw John.
“Hi love, whatcha got?”
He walks up to kiss him, curious of what John’s hiding.
@wearawatch0870
He kissed him back, grinning
“Hello love, I see you are busy.”
He goes to take the bag away, Aiden is busy, he shouldn’t disturb him
“Just catching up on grading, though I swear I’m going crazy just reading these essays.”
He really does need a break, and it’s perfect timing with John coming back.
“You’re not…interrupting anything, I promise. I need to take a bit of a break anyway.”
He’s also very interested on what’s in the bag.
“Are you sure? Because I can absolutely come back later, my love.”
John held Aiden’s hand, rubbing his thumb over Aiden’s knuckles
“I’m absolutely sure, my love.”
He smiles, holding his hand right back.
He smiles, he hands over the bag. Inside of it was a replica of John’s dog tags, John decided to give a set to Aiden, he hoped Aiden liked it, it was pricy and John carved his initials in it.
He stares at the dog tags as he picks them up, his thumb tracing every word etched into the metal. He adored the gift, and it showed on his face.
He saw the look on his face, but he still had to ask
“Do you like it?”
“I love it”
He pulls John into a kiss, still holding the dog tags.
“I’m never taking them off.”
Bit of a hyperbole, but he will in fact cherish these forever.
He smiled, holding him close before leaning away
“Let me.”
He went behind him and helped place the dog tags on. They softly clinked as it rested against Aiden’s chest
Aiden smiled as he watched the dog tags rest around his neck. He immediately held them in his hand, tracing over the words and his husband’s initials. He really does love them.
He loved seeing his husband so happy
“I’m glad you liked them.”
He was beaming
“I absolutely love them, my love”
He’s beaming too, pulling John into a kiss.

hi um I just want to say if u are a wheelchair or other mobility aid user I love u and I hope u have the best day ever and I want u to know that if I'm staring it's not to be rude it's because I am yearning for a wheelchair and I am in awe of u and the freedom u have to do the things u want
Not me creating Aiden as an OC and slowly learning that I want to be a teacher …
I watched a tiktok by a school teacher who hasn't assigned any homework in 12 years a few days ago and I'm still thinking about it because she made some great points. I'll link it here but it's in German.
I'll go ahead and summarize the arguments she made as to why she thinks homework sucks:
It doesn't actually promote self-sufficiency. Kids who don't struggle with organization and discipline at school will also not struggle with their homework, but kids who do struggle at school and need more help will also struggle while trying to get anything done at home.
It's inherently unfair/unequal. Children's home situations are so very different, some kids have their own desk and computer in a quiet room and at least one parent around who has the time & knowledge to help them plus the financial means to hire a tutor, while some children don't even have their own room and their parents might not be around or lack the education and means to be of any help at all.
AI exists and can be used to do almost all homework and most kids use it.
Assigning and checking homework and enforcing consequences when students don't do it is a waste of class time and creates an unpleasant atmosphere.
And also a very important point that many people in the comments made based on their experiences as both students & parents of students:
In addition to being a huge stressor for children and bad for their mental health, it also puts a lot of strain on the parent-child relationship. In cases where a parent already has a tendency to be abusive, conflicts over homework can quickly escalate and lead to abuse, which can then cause trauma around learning itself.
I do really think that the use of ChatGPT and genAI by students highlights the fundamental flaw of our education system focusing almost entirely on grades and test scores rather than generating curiosity and inquiry, which produces individuals who fundamentally do not understand that the purpose of an assignment is meant to be to learn *how* to do something, not simply to produce a product you can turn in to get an A+

Aiden and John as BloodyMary 👀👀👀👀
Aiden teaches science sometimes on top of English, though English is his main subject.
That being said, he loves space and astronomy and it’s his favorite unit to teach when he can. He’d love Project Hail Mary.
