Tom From Upstairs: TV Show Idea #1 // Day 5
A group of young adults live in the lower level of an old house. Tom is a more “mature” graduate from college. He is 29 and wears a second hand suit to work.
We only see Tom when the group of youngins need live advice. When they are experiencing life struggles, they head to the upper level of the house to sit on the communal porch. Tom is always there, tie loosened, with wine nobody likes but him. He then uses his 5 extra years of life experience to coach the college students. Tom is like Wilson from Home Improvement except we see his face.
His catch phrase is: Don’t put up with dat. Because Tom From Upstairs believes that if you are being treated poorly you should remove yourself from the situation immediately.
Tom From Upstairs also has cheesy jokes like: College Girl From Downstairs: It’s hot in here TFU: You’re telling me! **insert wink to the camera**
The group of college students from downstairs get into all kinds of shenanigans but not enough to get in REAL trouble. They try to be good people but have unfortunate situations - kinda Boy Meets World esque. And they do typical college student stuff.
And in the end, when they graduate - we see the door close one last time with a pan out on the house. Tom is toasting the camera from the upper level porch. This may or may not be based on events from the current evening I’m living. Tom From Upstairs may or may not be a real human.

A character is never seen without some part of their body in a cast/boot/sling because they're constantly injuring themselves.
Bonus Points: They've always been injured in the most stupid way possible, ie, "How did you hurt yourself?" "I was walking my dog"/ "I was making a smoothie"/ "I was watching TV", etc.
Double Bonus Points: One of the times they get injured is actually central to the plot (like the doctor at the ER is a serial killer or something), but the other characters (and the reader) are so used to hearing about the character's injuries that they don't pay attention and totally miss the important plot point.
