SU is so good, i just remembered.
hi! 💕
everyone wants SU prequel show. meanwhile i want future, because... well, i'm a jasper stan. that's the only era she has a real shot at happiness. same for many other characters, too. we can do past stuff too, but i would want like an "across time and space" thing, so we can set specials in different eras, told from different povs.
"i want morally grey female characters" you fuckers could barely handle rose quartz
yea sex is great but have you ever had your favorite fanfic be updated after months of silence.
i miss steven universe so much

Don’t you get it, Spinny? I’m never letting you go because, Spinny, you’re my weakness!

Lapis Lazuli defense megapost
(Warning: mention of toxic relationships)
Since i have seen some SU fans (and non fans) complain about Lapis as a characters i would like to give my own opinion on the subject.
I'm going to try debunking most the major complains i have read or heard. I going to cite things Lapis has said to help my argument as well as what other characters think of her.
1) "Lapis never felt sorry for hurting Jasper when they were Malachite"
Lapis in "Same old world": "Who knows what they would do to me back home after what I did to Jasper? I can't go back to Homeworld and I can't stay here."
(Fully admitting she did something terrible to Jasper and she can't return to Homeworld because of that) By the way, this is the episode that follows after Malachite was separated.
In Alone at the sea
Lapis to Jasper: "I was terrible to you. I liked taking everything out on you. I needed to, I hated you. It was bad!"
"NO!" (Refusing to be Malachite again) "What we had wasn't healthy. I never want to feel like I felt with you. Never again! So just, go!"
She refuses to hurt Jasper again the way she did. She has learned that hurting others it's a very toxic way of coping with her trauma and there are better options to express how she feels.
Lapis needed Jasper to feel she was in control of her life. She was "tired of being everyone's prisioner" and wanted to take her anger on someone. In this episode she learned that she her behaviour was very toxic and wasn't helping her to get better.
2) "Lapis never changed/realised how she was hurting others"
Lapis protecting Peridot after she tried to apologize to her and asking her if she was okay in "Barn Mates"
In Alone at the sea: "I'm terrible! I did horrible things! I broke your dad's leg. I stole Earth's ocean! Go on! Tell me I'm wrong!"
"Can't go back": "I don't even know anymore. I've done so much because I was afraid. I left Peridot behind. I took the barn. And her morps."
One of reasons of why Lapis didn't want to return to Earth was because she thought that Peridot was not going to forgive after the way she left in "Raising the barn"
Room for Ruby: "No, no. It's my problem. I didn't mean to make you feel like you don't belong here." (Lapis apologizing to Navy for mistreating her earlier in the episode)
Many of the episodes she is protagonist focus on how she treats others. After being used so many times in her life Lapis has a hard time trusting other people. She didn't trust that Peridot had changed and she didn't trust Navy right away. This makes her sometimes lash out and push anyone that tries to befriend her away.
Eventually she opens up to Steven and Peridot. Lapis is someone who returns kindness to those who are kind to her.
Also bonus:
This is in "The new crystal gems". In this context Connie mentions the events of "Ocean gem" and Lapis still feels sorry for trying to steal the Earth's water.
3) The characters never call Lapis out in the story
Peridot in "Barn mates" after Lapis destroyed her tape recorder: "Look, I get it, you know? You're confused! You can never go back to Homeworld. This place, doesn't exactly feel like home yet. You're alone, no one could possibly know what that feels like! Oh wait, I do! We're the same, except!... You don't have to be alone!
Steven after Lapis tells Peridot to leave: "Lapis, why are you being so mean to her? She's really trying!" "Lapis, you're not even giving her a chance! You should have at least gotten to know her before you decided you don't like her!"
Steven in "Can't go back": "You don't have to run, Lapis! Just stay with us!" (..)"Would you rather be alone?"
(Steven trying to convince Lapis to not run away and stay on Earth with them)
The whole episode of "Can't go back" comments on Lapis's choice to run away because of her trauma. She doesn't want to get caught in a war again, so that's why she keeps running away.
In "Reunited" she decides to face her fears and help the Crystal Gems to fight Blue Diamond.
( I love how she literally drops the entire barn on Blue)
Lapis is character that due to her traumatic past ends up hurting other people and running away. Over the course of the series she slowy overcomes part of her trauma to the point she's able to face again awful situations that remind her of past.
At the beginning she finds hard to call Earth her home..eventually she starts to like it and consider Earth her new home.
SO. I have ALLOT of emotions about the She-ra final. like the whole of Season5 had me on the edge of my seat and there were a few times I started getting teary eyed. but this. THIS SCENE. I just. It made me cry for real. I was not expecting it all, it wasn’t even something i considered. But it was beautiful and I’m SO GLAD I got to see it.
Thank you to Noelle Stevenson and the rest of Crew-ra for such an amazing show and bringing me to tears more then once, and thank you for killing me on impact by dropping this beautiful scene! And also thank you Keston John for the fucking beautiful line delivery!
<<do not tag this as a ship or I will come into your home and beat you to death>>
//please do not repost!//
That scene still makes me cry every time I think about it. She-Ra could have easily defeated Horde Prime by killing his host body, but instead she chose to exorcise Horde Prime in a way that left Hordak alive.
The scene is about WORTH. He showed her compassion, and she showed him mercy. Two people who were treated as faceless tools their entire lives recognized the inherent value of another, outside of their instrumentality. In that field, Hordak recognized baby Adora’s life as worth saving, in and of itself. In the midst of an apocalyptic war against his people, Adora recognized Hordak’s life as worth saving, in and of itself.
The scene is about REMEMBERING. Adora remembered how Hordak’s act of compassion saved her life. Hordak, stripped of his memories twice by Horde Prime, remembered a moment of strange new emotion. Each gave the other a new beginning, with a thread of memory running through those beginnings.
The scene is about FORGIVENESS. She recognizes how he was used by others, how his agency and personhood were ignored, and how that drove his actions. She knows. She forgives him.
It’s the most masterfully crafted scene in the series. It stirs up a feeling in me that I cannot name.
