“Hey” she greeted the other with an easy smile. It was always nice to see some people she knew who weren’t in some way related to her. She’d been here for about a month and already needed a big breather on all the Savoia genes bouncing around the place. “May I?” she asked before sitting on the free chair in front of him without waiting for an answer “How have been? I heard about the engagement- congrats?” she half asked, these days who truly knew what was real or not “Monaco..” she said making a face before she whistled “That’s brave.” Mimi herself was already terrifying, who could say how the in-laws could turn out.
Chai nodded as the woman greeted him but did not return her smile. ❝ You’re already seating.❞ The prince responded. Had she waited for an answer, he would have let Aiko sit as she was not insufferable like most royals. It was better that she kept him company than someone from Europe. ❝ I could have done worse. They were, after all, about to be family. –Though Mimi generally tried to avoid greeting most of her family. They were terrible pains in the neck…Maybe the Thai Prince would fit right in?
In any case she intended to avoid him, too. After today’s (hopefully short) meeting, she didn’t plan on ever seeing him again…Of course that would be a little more difficult to do if the wedding went ahead, but Mimi still hoped she’d be able to return Arielle to her senses. Or at least an old boyfriend.–But that was a scheme for another day. Today, she had no ulterior motives…If only because the Prince had nothing she wanted.
That fact - that he had nothing she wanted - had upset her, at first. Or rather, it still did upset her, but her initial disgust had faded to disinterest. Chai cringed as Mimi called him “darling”, then he almost went into shock when she had the audacity to air kiss him instead of shaking his hand. The Thai prince was not used to such familiarity and intimacy. In his family, they kept the demonstration of affection to the minimum and commoners and Thai nobles alike did not dare to touch a member of the royal family. So he was greatly startled by the simple greeting which was the norm in French culture. He took a couple steps back but avoided to push the princess. It took him several seconds to regain his composure and wipe the stupefaction and disgust from his face.

“ CHAI ! ” a wide grin spread on uriah’s face and he gave the younger man a slap on the back. you could always count on chai to be ever so formal — and uriah to be the opposite. “ what on earth are you talking about ? i would be honored to have mozambique swarming with these people. with them and their champagne problems. ” it must have required a lot from the thai royal family to set the whole thing up. it couldn’t have been an easy task to host so many important people. “ do you even need to ask ? i’d kill for something other than a morning yoga class taught by the blondest person i’ve ever seen. ”
The slap on the back surprised Chai who was not used to being touched. The Thai royal family used to be sacred and it was only after a tragic accident a little over century ago that people were permitted to touch them. He is the most eminent guest of the Commander of the Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command. Which is a fancy way of saying they kicked the vice-admiral out of his quarters to gave them to the prince for the duration of his stay in Phuket.
Chai is used to live on a base and he could not withstand establishing residency even temporarily at a fancy villa made for tourists. He is more than delighted to be able to use the commander suite at Cape Panwa.
