Stupid question but, would it be possible to dip a weak bullet (like 22lr so that it doesn't exit the body?) in poison in order to essentially poison someone from afar? Or would a tranquilizer gun with poison inside be more effective? But at that range ig a basic gun is more useful...

Possibly? I mean if you’re trying to kill someone from afar I’d imagine just shooting them with a regular bullet does the trick well enough but yeah I’d think a bullet coated in some agent would introduce said agent into the bloodstream. Same concept as dipping an arrow in poison.

Okay.. i’m sorry but as a French person… this post is so full of ignorance all over, I need to answer.

This new law is NOT a revolution, it doesn’t change anything concretely, it’s simply a clarification of an older law. In France you are already presumed to be an organ donor unless you refuses since 1976, the aim of this clarification is simply for the wish of the deceased to matter above the wish of the family - who had until now the last word, even if the donor was card carrying.

A person WON’T have to register in order to refuse, they can also simply write a statement and entrust it to a loved one, or they could even simply express their refusal to a loved one and then that person will have to testify about it to the medical team and sign this testimony. The registry is simply the easiest and fastest way to express this refusal (see here: x - in french).

As per the “Registre national des refus” (national register for refusal which, btw, isn’t public):

“En France, l'inscription sur le registre national des refus est la meilleure façon de faire valoir son opposition au don d'organes.

Mais il est également possible de faire valoir son refus par écrit. Il faut confier ce document à un proche pour qu'il puisse en être le garant au moment du décès.

Enfin, il est aussi possible de communiquer oralement son opposition à ses proches. Ceux-ci devront alors en attester par écrit auprès de l'équipe médicale au moment du décès.”

Your body your choice when you’re a living person with functioning vital organs AND THE ABILITY TO MAKE CHOICES, SURE. But once you’re dead you’re only a corpse and you don’t own shit anymore be it your house, bank account, your ceramic cats collection or your dead body and rights relative to it. Your belongings will be passed on to the people scheduled to inherit from you but whAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT THEM TO DO WITH A CORPSE??? Stuff the rests of you and expose that shit in the living room 3D still life style? And even then they’d need to get the organs out so what’s the big deal seriously.

Also do you have any idea of how many people regularly die because potential donors never said they wanted their body to benefit science™ so they were assumed to not want to donate or because families in shock don’t want their loved ones cut open? How many would have had long and fulfilling lives if such a law had existed where they lived?

On top of this, people tend to act more efficiently in disagreement or negative situations so making you voice your refusal to have your organs donated makes a lot more sense than waiting for you to go “Yes, I agree.” because for most people who think this, it’s so fucking common sense they don’t feel the need to say it.

To be honest, the only legit reason I can think of for refusing to donate is knowing that you have some disease or that your organs are in bad enough shape they would be of help to nobody. In the end you’re either ash or worm food so you might as well try to save a life or four while you’re still fresh enough.

Anyway, if you are not French this doesn’t have anything to do with you so stop twisting your panties in a bunch, we’re big enough to protest against shit we deem wrong and guess what? NOBODY IS PROTESTING THIS SO SHUT THE FUCK AND GET YOURSELF A BRAIN FROM A FRESHLY DEAD AUTOMATIC DONOR.

I just wanted to add that… yes the comparison with abortion is… unfortunate to speak politely. You all are comparing a living breathing person who’s life will be fundamentally altered and who’s health is on the line to… a dead corpse. Literally. If you can’t understand why this comparison is fundamentally flawed for this reason, then I don’t know what to tell you - unless, of course, you believe women shouldn’t have any more rights than a corpse, in which case, I’m legitimately questioning your sense of morality. 

And btw, as the law stood before this clarification, a french person had less rights on their dead corpse than they do now. As I said above, the family had last word on what would happen to their body after their death. It didn’t even matter if one was carrying a card or not; if the family said no, then it was no. If I had died, the shiny card I am constantly carrying in my wallet would have been of no use if my family had refused, with this new law, my wishes have a far bigger chance to be upheld, so effectively I have a bigger ownership of my dead corpse than I used to.
