Ready, Steady, Go
You Could Have Died:
Surprise, Mostly:
“I…” Alex and his smile faltered, not entirely sure how to deal with the question he should have anticipated. “Sorry, I w-was just surprised.” A wince was held in when the back of his head was touched over, the teen shifting everything to try and be less like himself for the adult that was sounding more than a little disappointed in how he had handled the surprise situation.
With the last little bit of his friendly, open nature draining away he took a step back, one hand finding his elbow uncomfortably. Right. Just because he was out of the house for a while didn’t mean he could ignore the social conventions taught to him, especially to a man older than him like the one stand in front of him was. “I didn’t meant to be in your way… I’m sorry.”
“I’m not used to seeing people doing those kinds of things that aren’t on the internet, so I was caught off guard.” Pale blue looked over the other male, looking for any sign that he’d hurt been hurt with Alex’s lack of getting out of the way. “…I’m more concerned about you being okay. I’ll be fine; I hurt myself all the time. But you could have landed fine if I’d just gotten out of the way.” Which made any damage his own fault.
The apology caught him off guard, and the surprise was impossible to wipe from his face. “Wha-- no, no, you don’t need to apologize to me. I’m not the one who got hurt, you are.” Valery was used to getting hurt. It came with the whole doing dangerous things like jumping off tall stuff and the like. It also came with lack of sight. Both together meant he had a fair share of injuries a fair share of the time.
Fuck. He’d messed that up, hadn’t he? The man before him was sounding less and less friendly, more like he’d been hit across the face and was the one apologizing. Valery couldn’t stop himself before he was reach forward to gently cup his face with both hands. “Hey, you shouldn’t be apologizing. I’m not trying to chide you or anything... I just don’t understand. You could have been seriously injured.” That was his problem. This man could have sustained a head injury bad enough to kill him if they’d hit the wrong way.
“Ah, I guess it was pretty strange to see, huh?” Stranger than he anticipated. Hard to envision something when you couldn’t even imagine what that would look like. “I normally pick secluded places because of that.” Valery shook his head lightly, dropping his hands from the other. “I’m fine. I didn’t get hurt at all.” One thing the man had certainly done was cushion his fall. “...But what about your head? Do I need to take you somewhere to get it looked at?”
