All seemed to be going better than planned. The stranger in particular seemed cheerful enough. His were the sort of people who would make the night enjoyable for employees like Leo who would be mixing and mingling all night. “In that case, I won’t card you. Or I can make you something virgin if you don’t drink. Either way, it’ll be fun if you come.” The sun-sign produced his cell phone from his pocket and with a quick glance, he checked the time. Perfect. It had taken less than 30 minutes to get those flyer’s out of his hands.
Now what?
The lion had forgotten something a bit important if he was going to be making friends. “Ah– I forgot to introduce myself.” A short bow. “’Name’s Asa. I’m the bartender and event coordinator for the restaurant.” He offered a hand to the other, his golden hues searching his features carefully. To Leo, he didn’t look very young. But if he was under the drinking age, perhaps the zodiac couldn’t be trusted with guessing games anyhow. People seemed to mature earlier and earlier over the decades. “How old are you, then? If it’s not too nosy of me.” He grinned sheepishly, lifting his arm to scratch the back of his neck.
Embarrassed pink took to his cheeks when at the mention of not getting carded, Alex suddenly feeling a lot smaller for the extra effort the man was going to have to go through for him. Or maybe it was just from the idea of drinking alcohol when he’d never dared to partake of it before. It wasn’t exactly allowed in the home of the groomed son of a wealthy and influential person, when the things he did had the chance of getting back to said man. But now he could try it, if he wanted, and no one would know.
“I’m Alex,” he introduced, brushing a bit of stray back behind his ear. “That must be a pretty fun job to have.” Assuming one liked people, which this man definitely seemed to. The natural charisma that came off the one in front of him was absurdly similar to the people he got to see whenever he went to family or friend functions, which was kind of nice. In a way. At least it wasn’t unfamiliar to him. “Ah, I’m nineteen. I wouldn’t call it nosy when I was expecting it.”
