The Joys of Getting Lost || Green & Fire

Green tossed and turned on the cold, hard floor until he felt comfortable, soon after he got into a comfortable state, his rival, Fire stated that he was awake. 

To get the brunette out of a sate of boredom, he asked more questions. “Why did you even decide to go on a journey, even though you’re kinda… umm… timid-ish.” Green said to the young male, he hoped that he hadn’t hurt his feelings by saying ‘timid-ish’, and was timid-ish even a word? To Green, well it was a word. 

"I remember that… . I tried to-" Green stopped himself, he didn’t want to bore Fire about his achievements and how he realized that its not about being the very best that makes you the best trainer. "But yeah… Why did you decide to start a journey?" Green asked Fire again for the second time, smiling slightly the second time he asked the trainer.

"I'm not timid!" Fire exclaimed in denial. Unfortunately, Green was very correct in the statement. Fire was somewhat of a shy guy. Actually he was less shy and more easily embarrassed and horribly clumsy. "As for your question though...why not?" Fire asked with a shrug. 

"All of my friends were going on their own journeys, I loved Pokemon and my dad wanted me to go on one..." Fire concluded quietly. He didn't often talk about his father. He loved him dearly but his death hit the boy hard. Fire's dad was one of the best trainers to come out of Pallet and Fire greatly admired him. 

He always thought that he'd grow up to be him one day. It was both expected and something he really wanted to accomplish. He didn't want to brag but he liked to think that it was something that he did accomplish. 

Fire shook his head. "Anyway, the point is I'm not timid! So why did you decide to start your own journey?" Fire shot back.

Fire’s eagerness was all the girl needed to rev her engines up. Without another second to waste, Kris tightened her grip on the boy’s hand, tugging him behind her as she forcefully led the two around the city.

She spent a good thirty minutes, lugging him along with her, frantically pointing out all of the sights and attractions: she spoke briefly about the Radio Tower and the incident with Team Rocket there many years ago; the Game Corner and how she never seemed to win much of anything at the slot machines; the flower shoppe and the bike store, two places she ventured to early on in her journey; and the Gym, where the leader, Whitney, had put up one hell of a fight with her notorious Miltank, giving Kris her first real Gym Challenge. 

Finally, almost out of breath, Kris brought the two to the mouth of the Goldenrod Tunnel. “And, here,” she spoke, wheezing just about. “Here is the Goldenrod Tunnel. There’s been a lot of work done to it over the years; it extends underneath the entire city, and now holds at least a dozen little outlets, stores, restaurants, and even a salon!” Excitedly, she gave his hand one last squeeze before dropping it by her side and making her way down the stairwell, motioning for him to follow.

"If you’re hungry," she called up to him. "We can stop by the sandwich shoppe? It’s really inexpensive, so~ Oh! And there’s a neat little exhibit on a man named Kurt’s hand-made Pokeballs, it’s very interesting." Gazing up at him, she allowed Fire to process the options before popping another question on him. "So, how long are you intending to stick around Johto?"

Kris' excitement over being in Goldenrod made Fire's enthusiasm grow even more than before. He let out a small laugh as he was dragged around the city by Kris. It was nice having someone guiding him around. He was more used to getting lost and wandering around aimlessly. 

Fire 'ooh-ed' and 'ahh-ed' as Kris pointed out anything and everything interesting about the city. He had to admit that there was a lot going on here. Much more than anything he'd seen in Kanto. It was definitely different but also quite pleasant seeing all the differences. 

Fire's eyes widened when she mentioned the gym. That really got him going. Although Fire was pretty useless when it came to...well everything, when it came to Pokemon battling, he was top tier, if he did say so himself. He was about to question her more about it when he felt himself being dragged off. He let out a little sigh but he guessed that he could talk to her later about it. 

Soon enough, his enthusiasm grew again just because Kris seemed to be having the time of her life. He grinned and followed her diligently as she continued to show him around. "I'm starving!" Fire quipped when Kris asked if he was hungry. He hadn't really noticed but now that she mentioned it, the hungry feeling made itself known. 

"Let's go!" Fire exclaimed excitedly, pulling the girl to the sandwich shop. "I'm not too sure how long I'll stay to be honest," he said with a shrug. "I guess I'll just explore for a while and then maybe battle the gyms so however long that takes," he informed her with a small chuckle. 

"Anyway, tell me about the gyms here?!" Fire asked with excitement bubbling in his voice.

"I think Leaf’s awesome!! She’s someone I’ve known since my Pallet Town days so she’ll always be special!"

"Uh, well...no offence to Professor Oak because I do love him like a grandpa but I um- I think that Professor Juniper is really pretty so uh....yeah...."
