I was rewatching anne with an e and I have some thoughts

What's so special about whole Cole Mackenzie's storyline is that it doesn't end in trauma.

What is special about Cole's arc?

He gets a happy ending. He starts out the season alienated, alone and ends up with a family. Josephine adopts him and he gets to live the rest of his life freely, as a queer person, without shame and knowing he isn't unnatural.

The queer people in anne with an e, though they suffer have meaningful stories and happy endings.

Josephine herself got to live a full life with the woman she loved and she gives Cole the same chance.

It is so wholesome. And important to me, to see the stories of queer characters living in the 1900s end on such a happy note. It makes me hopeful.
