The athleisure trend has sweatpants taking on a whole new look. What once was taboo any where other than the couch, we are now audaciously seeing everywhere but. I for one appreciate the relaxed off-duty, yet cool vibes this look inspires. Great at creating curves where they lack, as this style does add volume to the hip and derierre. *wink  I dressed these comfy pair up with a more refined crop top and strappy sandals, creating the perfect look for a night out with the girls. Although not for every body, denim joggers are a hip-craving girl's dream!

I've said it before, denim will always be "IN." It is a style staple fitting every closet. Sure, the core of great denim is all in the jeans, but now the classic blues have taken shape in multiple must-have modern style. On the spring 2015 runways, the textile was everywhere, from a dark-wash denim jumpsuit at Chloé to prairie-style dresses with a Western flair at Stella McCartney and elaborately blinged jeans at Dolce & Gabbana.

The Spring runways were awash with denim. This season, denim is about so much more than classic blue jeans.  Olive + Oak has plenty of refreshing ideas, like this Washed Up Denim Button Up and Stone Washed Chambray Shorts.

Tracy Reese Conqures Fall 2015

"Urban warrior." Embrace the day's challenges and conquer them head-on, was the advice Tracy Reese shared to inspired the Catwalk for her Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear Collection shown at NYFW just a  over a week ago.  Reese focused on rich textures like marbles knits, rich patent leather, and lots of faux fur to translate a sense of power into the collection. She had me again at the bold sequins, fluffy fringe and tonal embroideries. "I didn't want it to be precious," Reese said. These are not the vintage furs we are use to seeing, Reese gave them an of the moment upgrade-including saturating them in vibrate hues. This was another Fall 2015 collection giving a nod to the 70's. "I love the '70s influence, but I didn't want it to feel retro," Reese said. "We really tried to think about how you might integrate a cool '70s-feeling piece into a modern wardrobe." This collection definitely has me excited to conquer Fall!  xx -Nikki

Pop A Metallic

From runways to red carpets metallic is everywhere this season. Contrary to popular belief, metallic is not just for major events.  A shimmering piece can add a glamor to an "everyday" look. And with a little styling ingenuity, metallics can work for every body. 

The key to pairing a metallic piece for everyday is to keep it simple. Here I paired a high-waist midi metallic skirt, with a simple long-sleeve crop top and single strap heels for an effortlessly glam look.

Nude Everything

Hello, loves! This look is a dream. Expressing the perfect balance of chic and comfort. Few things are more versitile than a shirtdress. With so many variations to this simple frock, the pairing possiblitiles are endless! I went a little more edgy with this look contrasting the soft nude color with the fierce studded nude pumps.

2014 was a pretty eclectic year, and so much fun! Being a bit of a wordsmith, the witty expressions on everything from tees to stilettos-especially with a little thoughtful sarcasm was right up my alley of expression. Glitter and metallic ruled this year popping up on walls and tiny tech accessories. Bold graphic prints were not to be missed either, fearlessly creating show stopping looks for 2014. Looking forward to sharing more smile inducing favorites in 2015!

  Hope everyone is enjoying the countdown to Christmas! I have been moonlighting at the Phoenix Rescue Mission’s Changing Lives Center this year. It has been an amazing experience to say the least! I have received so much more than I have been blessed to give, by far. The strength and perseverance of these women (and their children) to overcome life’s challenges has been a testament to God’s amazing grace working in their lives. I am honored to watch the transformation.

In the Spirit of the Season, I -along with a great team of volunteers, Platform Scottsdale and a few of the Kansas City Royals, hosted a Winter Wonderland for all the clients of the Changing Lives Center. Gingerbread houses were built, Christmas Cookies were decorated and Reindeer Rings were tossed in true Winter Wonderland style. The women were also able to “shop” donated new toys for their little ones. And the kiddos were able to “shop” donated fancy gifts for their moms. Mrs. Clause read The Night Before Christmas and gave cozy blanket’s donated by Natalia, a very special girl who used her Make a Wish to give blankets to the homeless. You can see more on her inspirational story here. Santa was even able to stop by and hand out special gifts to the children!

It’s tough to say what my favorite moment from the day was, but hearing one of the mom’s tearful “thank yous,” as she did not think she would be able to get gifts for her kids this year, is one that ranks pretty high. And the cozy blankets from Natalia; when I heard her story I was in tears, but my heart was encouraged. May Natalia’s beautiful legacy of giving live on and may we all realize how much we have to share with others this season and throughout the new year.

Receiving the amazing gift of grace inspires sharing the gift of grace with others.

  October is one of my favorite months-not for the tricks or treats, or even pumpkins, but because it’s National Breast Cancer Month. The fight against breast cancer is close to my heart because the disease affects so many mothers, sisters and grandmothers like mine. My grandmother passed away from breast before I was old enough to comprehend her story or realize her fight. I pledged to carry on her fight by helping to raise awareness.

Most people are aware of breast cancer, but raising awareness includes encouraging women and men (yes, men can get breast cancer) to take steps to detect the disease early. The sobering statistic is that *1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Visit http://www.earlydetectionplan.org to learn more about the steps you and your loved ones should take for early detetion.
