Today’s front page of the Philadelphia Metro has the bold headline “Husband Confesses to Strangling Wife”. The article reports that on August 6th Christopher Murray strangled his wife, Connie Murray, to death in an outburst of rage over “ongoing martial issues” while she was out for a jog in the park. The article later quotes Homicide Lieutenant Philip Riehl as saying there had been “some ongoing domestic discord between the two”. This is just another example of the media and law enforcement's failure to acknowledge what is clearly a case of domestic violence, which tragically became fatal. Let’s not sugarcoat it and instead demand the media use complete transparency. Call it like it is: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE and ABUSE!
