Hello guys! I see a lot of you are new on my blog, so I just wanted to reintroduce myself.

I'm Simran, 21, she/her.

I'm did my bachelor's of science in psychology and am currently taking a gap year.

I've been writing poetry for a while now (around 7-8 years? It feels so shocking to say that haha).

I self-published my debut book Blooming Between Thorns in 2022 and am currently working on my second book.

I love the moon and flowers and that's all you'll find my gallery filled with.

My love for psychology is evident from the fact that I survived and thrived in the two years that I studied it haha but I am very passionate about the brain's mechanisms and how it affects behaviour. The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know about it. In the future, I'd like to call myself a neuropsychologist.

Other than writing, I love to sing and play instruments like the ukulele and keyboard.

But survival is not stationary; it is ever-evolving. If you survive, you wouldn’t be in the same place twenty years later. You would grow, make a life for yourself, do things you always wished to. When you silence yourself–time and time again–you become the pattern you need to survive.

The atmosphere is full of moisture now, the scenario painted gray and green. It's a weirdly soothing combination of colours; it reminds me of death and rebirth. It tells me that the end of something always paves a path for the beginning of something new. We must leave some places in order to live.

No two people experience the same independence. Independence is not just political—it is very much a psychological thing. You can fight for and free a country, but it takes years to free the mind from what the colonisers fed it. Some minds stay trapped their entire lives. So-called "reforms" stay. The division in society never diminishes. And over time, the independence you fought for is reduced to being just a historical event. Independence, though a historical milestone, is something that needs to be sustained. Maintaining independence is just as important as gaining it, and it can only be achieved when the people of the country breathe freely. We all have the right to feel proud of the land that supposedly gives us life. Yet, why does this land give life to some and take it from others? And is it something that this land does willingly or is made to do by people that govern us? Independence shouldn't be restricted to becoming free only as a country. It should, and it must, go beyond to capture being independent as humans.

august is the month for girls who have never made it to the top in the list of priorities. girls who've always only been an option. girls who don't know what it feels like to be someone's first. girls who know too well how it feels to be the shoulder for someone to cry upon, but never the eyes for someone to see their future into. girls who dream of eternal love, even when the world has given them a million reasons to not believe in such a phenomenon. girls who've never experienced the joys of being loved unconditionally. girls who never stop chasing the sunlight, only for the sun to still disappear behind the horizon at the end of the day. girls who still don't give up on hope, because hope is the only thing that's ever been theirs.
