Happy Halloween!
âEveryone making these foul jests should be... punished.â
Lone coughing.
âThat or get a map.â Mimi mumbled quickly. âItâs pretty easy to get lost, so Memorizing is probably one of the best way to do things around here. Especially in Sector one what with itâs changing buildings around all the time.â At this point, she started to miss her ability to teleport. âSo just follow meâÂ
Paula recalled having a map on her long journey before arriving here. Yet, it was practically useless here, it covered three countries worth. She probably would have to find one for this rather unusual metropolis. Being a psychic, she couldâve made use of just storing info in her mind, but that wasnât the best idea at the moment.Â
âAlright, lead the way, Miss--?â
â  ĐČαâ  timing indeed, no doubts on that.
But Killian could say the same about himself too. He is locked in this dusty basement as well. The building itself appeared abandoned at that. Â Â Poor requirements to get found.
âSomething you lost? I donât think I came across anything valuable here.â
This man gave her a bad feeling. Just the atmosphere he seemed to create around them. If Paula had to take a guess, he was a gambler; not the kind that blows money but the kind that takes chances with small percents of succession.
Might have seemed like a terrible thought if she claimed it aloud, but itâs something sheâs had to deal with plenty of times. Tiny success rate scenarios, that is.
â...If youâd like to know, it was my teddy bear. Something snatched it from me and headed here, so I chased after it.â
âI donât see the culprit or my teddy anywhere here... I donât recall it being a tall, adult man.â
He observed the girl with calm eyes and a smile ever present on his face. His looming presence, however kind he might try to be, was probably something that withheld her from being as confident as she truly was. Then again, it wasnât strange to not feel at ease around strangers; Kenji would have thought of it as worse if she had spoken to him as if she had known him for years.
When she looked up his smile grew a little wider. Those blue eyes were the eyes of a good child, furthest removed from his own, tainted ones. Â This girl probably had the power to soothe even the fiercest of people. Sheâs a little blessing; a gift, ribbon included.
âIs there something about my uniform? I suppose itâs a little out of place, butââ
He was interrupted by a fit of giggling that suddenly came out of the other. What did it mean, was she laughing about the way he said something? Thatâd be quite unusual⊠Either way, he was curious just what had made her lose her composure in such a way.
âNo need to apologize, it happens to all of us. Would you mind sharing what prompted you?â
His tone was genuinely curious, not a hint of anger nor of aggression. He somehow couldnât find the strength or will to display those sort of emotions towards her. Was he growing soft? Perhaps he was..
She figured making eye contact was possibly a solution to calming her nerves, and it did help a bit. Though, her actions following that gaze was a bit out of the blue; imagining some stranger as a superhero just because of their appearance wasnât her ideal first impression.
He didnât seem all that bothered by her outburst anyways. âThank Mary.â Paula thought with a relieved sigh. This young man did, however, wonder what caused it.
âErm... how should I put it. Your outfit- it reminded me of a comic book character.â
She glanced at his expression, hoping his smile didnât fade or that she did not offend him.
âS-still, even if in a harmless way, it isnât okay to judge someone!âÂ
Fiddling her thumbs, an inner switch went off inside her, triggering her nervousness.
âI-I think itâs really cool... forgive me!â
.
How's my portrayal? Leave an opinion in my inbox.
Hearing the girl ask the question made her smile. She wasnât the only one lost .âAh Thatâs a simple answer. You just need to get on the train! Itâs right nearby. if you want me to take you to it I wouldnât mind.â Got nothing better to do. Plus, she hasnât really been to sector 2 so maybe itâd be interesting.
The damsel nodded almost too cheerfully. âOh, thank you so kindly!â
âIâll have to memorize this route since I live in that area.â For some reason, Paula was looking forward to this ride. It couldnât be as unique as traveling through a sky ship like her friend Jeffâs creation. Yet, it still gave her a nice feeling. Maybe she was more concerned with meeting more people who seemed as kind and thoughtful as this lass was.Â

â ÎčŃ is quiet. Too quiet. Killian canât hear anything that would indicate a rescue out of this damn cellar. And his company is a little girl, way too young to make out with. He groans and leans against a shelf. âThere is still hope for a enlightening conversation, right?â
âHow did you end up here in this basement?â
Without a doubt, Paula knew that there was no way around this situation. At least, not with her being almost literally powerless. Might as well make herself somewhat comfortable for the time being.
âActually...â
She crossed one leg over the other, maintaining her ettiquette.
âI was here looking for something I lost. â
âYes... I... seem to have bad timing nowadays.â

will get to replies later today!
Did he look like authority? Well he supposed he did. His uniform was a military police uniform after all. But working for this wretched hive city? No, he would never work for the scientists themselves. He could see why this girl would think that though, he didnât blame her for wondering at all.
And so Kenji kept his smile on his face, seeing her look down at her feet in embarrassment was more than enough confirmation that she had no ill intentions. Sh was just a young, curious girl who dared to speak her mind to someone as intimidating as him.
âNo, this humble self doesnât work here.â
He kept his voice deliberately kind and patient, he found it difficult not to be nice. Such a polite little girl gave him hope for the future. â Wow, that made him sound like an old man and heâs only 18 years oldâ
âItâs alright to ask questions, though. Especially in the way that you go about it. So, if there is anything else, please donât hesitate to ask.â
Good job Kenji, trying to take up some brotherly role while the only experience you had with that is your dear junior, whom you never got along with and just loved to bother to hell and back. Oh well, there was always a start for everything.
As kind as the young man seemed, Paula still could not help but feel shy and anxious, like she had to choose her words carefully. The girl did not want to come off as too childish; she already found herself stumbling on the first words that came out of her mouth.Â
The little lady definitely wanted to be seen as mature for her age, and decided to meet the eyes of her speaker.
âOh, itâs... itâs just that your uniform...â
What about his uniform? She didnât find it unusual or anything, but she did wonder if maybe he had a specific purpose, or if he was just wearing it to look cool.
The latter seemed a bit farfetched, and the tiny psychic envisioned him with his cape flowing in the wind, striking a pose like a superhero. This caused her to erupt in a fit of giggles; however, she stopped herself abruptly, realizing it came off as sudden and strange. âS-sorry! I just had a little... moment there.â
