Opening video for ex-CING staffâs Chase âÂ
Itâs largely the same stuff we saw in screens, but moving â but yeah! This Arc System Works-published adventure game is totally going to scratch the Hotel Dusk itch, if the look is any indication.Â
If anything, itâs encouraging that this looks so much like Dusk and nothing like Again. Via Gematsu.
BUY Hotel Dusk games
Toby is fine with undertale fanart being sold though (as long as it wasnt like in large quantities, for example someone made a plush of toriel i think and sold it and he was fine with that, as long as they werent sold in a store or something) but I dont really see how that entirely applies to video games? Selling fanart doesnt compete with a dev, you cant play a game on a drawing of a character i dont understand that post much
Are you sure?
To be honest, A LOT of people do not seem to understand this post, so Im going to make it very clear whats the problem:Doing fanart is fine, selling it is ALWAYS illegal. Yes, we are all guilty of this, me including with selling MLP Fanart as an example at Conventions like Gala Con. The big difference is that MLP is a big show of a well payed studio that is selling TONS of merchandise on their own and make a huge amount of profit out of it, regardless if you sell some art based on their show on your own.Fanartists are not a threat to their company since the amount of money you make from their show isnt a huge loss for them and so you are likely to not get into trouble for selling it.They DO have the rights tho to take you down ANYTIME should you ever be a thorn in their side.
NOW, whats the problem with selling fanart based off indie games like undertale or webcomics like avas demon for example ?OK so, lets say I published my dragon-book and opened up a small shop with official merchandise for it. I am a freelancer Artist and thus every single penny I make out of my work is important for my survival. Now, imagine that someone out there loved my work so much that they NATURALLY, decided to make fanart for it. Thats all fine. But then they thought it would be a great idea for some reason to make profit out of MY idea and sell it online. Fanart of steven universe or gravity falls? No problem. Do you think disney or cartoon network REALLY care about that ONE poster you sold online? But now you are selling fanart of MY work, of MY project, the project of a SINGLE ARTIST and not a huge company. Every single penny you earn out of it is a huge loss on profit for me.Â
THATS why you should not sell fanart based of indie games or other projects of indie artists. They NEED the money YOU make from THEIR work. Feel free to make fanart as much as you want, it is a great way of promoting the original product, whether its a book, comic or game.
But PLEASE, have some respect for indie artists who put YEARS of work into realizing their ideas, and support the OFFICIAL merchandise THEY created INSTEAD of making your own.
Hey guys, just to clear some things up, Toby is fine with one-off commissions. Itâs only mass produced merch he has a problem with.
Hereâs an official tumblr post
OP was talking about mass-produced merchandise like posters and shirts that are sold online and/or at conventions. They mention on their blog theyâre specifically talking about mass produced and not one-off commissions.
Iâve never felt this way about the passing of a big figure beforeâŚÂ Iâm really sad and shocked he must had hid his condition so well and pushed himself so hard to keep us smiling to the end.
There were countless times I felt down, afraid, stressed. I would pick up a game and magically it helped me through those hard times. Your games werenât just a pick me up. Nintendo, I really loved them. I loved the characters, I loved the world inside them. I really enjoyed and respected the parts that go into the creation of them. Game hype was a lot of fun. Itâs really fun to talk about with my friends. Whenever I finished work your games were most of the time, what I rewarded myself with.
Thank you so much for shaping my and many childhoods, helping me get through life. Rest in peace Mr. Iwata

Earthboundâs creator reflects on Iwataâs passing âÂ
Mother/Earthbound series creator Shigesato Itoi collaborated with Satoru Iwata, Nintendoâs celebrated president and CEO who passed away suddenly over the weekend, a number of times over the years. Iwata, a brilliant programmer, actually came in and saved Earthbound from problems that wouldâve likely killed the project many years ago, and the two men had been friends since.
Itoi posted a farewell to his friend this morning â here it is translated by Yomuka/Lindsay Nelson (Hobonichi Techo translator):
âWhen Iâm parting with a friend, regardless of the circumstances, I find it best to just say, âSee you later.â Weâll meet again. After all, weâre friends.
Thatâs rightânothing unusual about it. Iâll see you later.
You went on a trip far, far away, even though it was planned for many years from now. You wore your best outfit and said âSorry for the short notice,â though you didnât say it out loud.
You always put yourself last, after youâd finished helping everyone else. You were so generous as a friend that this trip might be your very first selfish act.
I still canât grasp whatâs happened. It feels like I could still get a light-hearted e-mail asking me out to lunch at any momentâafter youâve made sure lunch wouldnât disrupt my schedule, of course.
You can invite me out whenever you want. Iâll invite you, too.
So for now, letâs plan on meeting again. You can call me up whenever you like, and Iâll give you a call, too. I still have a lot to talk to you about, and if I come up with any particularly good ideas, Iâll let you know.
So letâs meet again.
NoâI suppose weâre already meeting. Right here, right now.â
The sprites of Iwata and Itoi above come from an interview with the two conducted by Japanese magazine BRUTUS â read it in English here.
So glad someone had translate this. Still feeling upset about the bad news.

Facts everyone needs to know about Iwata:
He saved HAL Laboratories from going down under and was a key to Kirbyâs creation as a series.
He reprogrammed the entire Mother 2 / Earthbound game in less than six months. Heâs the reason it exists.
The last game he engineered was Super Smash Bros. Melee.. out of necessity. He re-coded that as well so it would meet its November 2001 release.
He cut his salary in half to keep Nintendo afloat rather than cut positions at the bottom.
He gave the speech titled âHeart of a Gamerâ in 2005, a key time before the Wiiâs release, which shocked the world in the following generation.
Designer first, executive second. One of the few, if not, the first and only president of a major gaming company who was a designer first and foremost.
He was the fourth President of Nintendo and the first not by blood relation to get the honors due to his previous years of leadership.
Iwata believed in open communication with the fans and the press. He believed in sharing his and other developersâ passion for video game design. Thus, he created a series called, âIwata Asks.â
Overall, as president, he has helped carry Nintendo into the new millennium. He brought in the most memorable public face of gaming known as Reginald Fils-Aime, he orchestrated one of Nintendoâs finest, most shocking years in popular culture since the NES with the Wii, and shouldered the burden and took full responsibility of both the GameCube and the Wii U financially. A man with this much business savvy, personality, passion, and unselfishness⌠will surely, surely be missed in the gaming realm.
âEven if we come from different sides of the world, speak different languages, even if we eat too many chips or rice balls, even if we have different tastes in games, every one of us here today is identical in the most important way: each one of us has the heart of a gamer.â - Satoru Iwata, Heart of a Gamer
Gunpei Yokoi on Game Boyâs monochrome screen âÂ
Iâm not sure if theyâre referring to Atariâs Lynx or Segaâs Game Gear, but it doesnât matter â the Game Boy buried both of those competitors despite its pea green screen. The handheld innovator talked more about the system and gameplay philosophies in this 1997 interview, conducted months before Yokoiâs passing and translated recently by Shmuplations.
Yokoi also added, âWhen we were designing the Gameboy hardware, we took into consideration what kind of software was going to be made for it, and I think that approach resulted in a very efficient product. Hardware design isnât about making the most powerful thing you can.â
