warrenwinged:
“i’m offended that you would think such a thing,” warren scoffs, rolling his eyes as a playful smile finally emerges on his features. he’s thankful that betsy is at least smiling now, even if it may be at his expense. “i have plenty of friends. like… all the people here who don’t remember me,” he makes a face, as if to show her that the answer is the most obvious one in the world. “really, though. you gonna be okay?”
“i mean, you can be offended all you want, but that doesn’t mean it’s not true,” she joked back lightly. a sigh left her lips. she knew she had been agitated lately. volatile. she knew she had a history of going dark. she still hated the fact that people defined her by her worst days, never by her best. “i’ll be fine,” she said softly, ducking her head for a moment before she looked back up, resting her chin in the palm of her hand. “nothing i’m not used to, i just—i got fed up for a second, but i’ll be all right.” the last thing she wanted to do was worry warren. he deserved better than that. he deserved better than her.
ivehurtpeople:
Logan simply gives her a nod, feeling relieved he didn’t have to get into it any further but yet concerned about what he knew. Still looking down to the floor until she mentions that she had missed him. Glancing up to make eye contact with her again as the corner of his mouth lightly pulls into a smirk. “Yeah well. Thats what ya get for liking me in the first place.” He stands up and walk over in front of her. “Missed ya too Bets”.
Betsy looked at Logan with a crooked grin on her features, her head tilted to one side. “Can I hug you, or are you going to try and impale me with your claws?” she asked, her voice lightly teasing. She shrugged a shoulder. “I knew what I was signing up for when I decided to befriend you,” she added. “Lots of sarcasm, whiskey, and general grumpiness.”
ofhvlklings:
“A little bit, yeah. It’s okay - assuming a name is better than assuming something really douchey, you’re fine.” Teddy grins, shrugging his shoulders. “Great, you’re my new eccentric friend.” He raises an eyebrow at her words, curious as to how she could’ve cheated something like name guessing - but she answers the question for him. “Whoa, okay. Don’t know a whole lot of telepaths, that’s kind of cool.”
“I try to avoid the douchey side of things,” she replied, nodding once before her lips split into a grin. “I’ll take it,” she replied. Betsy shrugged. “I don’t know, sometimes around here, it feels like you can’t take a step without tripping over a telepath,” she joked lightly. “They’re everywhere.” Betsy paused for a moment before her lips curved into a crooked smirk. Or, I guess, we’re everywhere,” she amended.
ofhvlklings:
“I don’t think Brian would suit me. And I’m not exactly white all the time.” Teddy answers, pulling a bit of a face at the thought of being called Brian of all things. It’s not a bad name, but.. not for him, either. He can’t help but laugh at her reaction, shrugging his shoulders. “Not necessarily insane, just.. a little eccentric, maybe?” He assures her, reaching to shake her hand. “How’d you know my name started with a T?”
“I mean—I shouldn’t assume things, but this whole conversation started with me assuming things, so I guess it’s a little late for me to hop on that train.” She crinkled her nose slightly. “I can live with eccentric. Sometimes that’s just how it is.” Betsy grimaced slightly. “I think I might have cheated a little,” she said, lifting her hand and tapping her temple with her index and middle finger. “Telepath.”
loyaltothebone:
“That is true of myself as well. Asgard may have been home and always will be, but this place could be just as good if not better in the end. I agree with you. Snow is very beautiful to behold no matter the location.” Sigyn listens to Betsy speak about changing and adapting, giving her a nod. “I suppose so. However, what if adapting can still help you. Not in regards to survival but to improve your happiness or the health of your total self? It seems as though that is the most difficult sort of change for most.”
“I think that there’s always something about home that makes it feel better than anywhere else,” she said. “But there’s also something to be said about the home you make for yourself somewhere else.” She chuckled softly. “I think that at that point, working on yourself has a lot more implications than just simply making a change. When things get to be too inner-focused, that’s when things can get a little dicey. For me, at least.”
ofhvlklings:
“It’s not Brian. Do I look like a Brian?” He chuckles softly, shaking his head at all of her name-guesses. She’s not far off with the T’s of course, but it’s still amusing to watch her try and piece it together. Fortunately for her, Teddy’s not cruel enough to make her play guessing games all afternoon. “You were on track with the T’s, miss. It’s Teddy.” He says with a smile, holding his hand out to her. There are plenty of people here he’s never met before, the mansion full of people with more appearing by the day, he’s not surprised that he’s still meeting new people all the time. “It’s nice to meet you. I think there’s a Timothy around here somewhere, maybe that’s where that came from.”
“I don’t know, Brian is a perfectly respectable name for a white guy,” she said with a shrug. She snapped her fingers at him again. “Teddy! I knew I was on the right track. Brian didn’t feel right, but I thought I would just give it a try, anyway.” She laughed, tossing her head back. “I’m so sorry, that probably made me seem so insane,” she said, shaking her head and reaching a hand out to shake. “I’m Betsy Braddock,” she said, finally introducing herself. “And I think you might be right about the Timothy thing.”
warrenwinged:
“do you need me to kick their asses?” warren asks, raising an eyebrow. part of him is slightly joking, but another part of him is entirely willing to throw hands in betsy’s defense. she looks so upset about the whole ordeal that he wants to take matters into his own hands, but he knows acting on a whim isn’t entirely a good solution to the system either. instead, he decides to sit down next to his friend, reaching out and pressing a hand to her back gingerly. “you’re more than that, bets. there are people who know it. i know it. who cares what some kids have to think? you’re incredible in our eyes, isn’t that enough?”
“you don’t need to go after anyone on my behalf,” she replied calmly, nodding once. “it’s fine. i’ll be okay.” she was sure she was just overreacting—she was prone to overreaction, especially when it came to someone commenting on her abilities. she knew that she was a mess, she knew that her abilities were mind-boggling and scared a lot of people—including herself, sometimes. usually, she kept a lid on it all. sometimes, she just lost her temper. she couldn’t help but feel a crooked smile curve up at the corner of her lips. “of course you’d say that, you don’t have other friends.”
ofwiccvn:
“I DON’T MIND if you talk, you’re fine.” Billy smiles reassuring her. One voice doesn’t bother him, it was when there was so many of them talking at once. Sometimes he just wanted to get some peace and quiet, you know? “It can be our hiding spot.” He grins as she crawls in with him. He glance at his book again for a moment, staring at the spell on the page.
“You sure?” She raised an eyebrow. “Because, I’m not exactly the most social around here, but I don’t mind talking to people one-on-one. Which means that I’ll probably talk way too much.” She paused before scooting over next to him, looking over his shoulder at the book. “What is this?”
msameriica:
america nodded as the other talked “well now, people just gotta hope i’m in the right place at the right time. but back in the future people can reach me on my cellphone. it works in any dimension.” she shrugged, getting the useless piece of technology and showing to the girl, it didn’t work anymore but she had it for some reason. america flinched at the mention of home, hoping the other wouldn’t pick up on it “time goes on, regardless of where i am.” she cocked her head “there’s a few dimensions that time works differently, but things keep moving and i so do i.” the girl nodded “it is for most people.”
“that sounds...a little too up to chance than i would like,” betsy admitted with a chuckle. she nodded understandingly, though she had only heard of cellphones through the people she had met at the mansion. she had only seen what they had brought back—and she had a feeling that she probably shouldn’t have. “that’s nice, at least,” she replied. “can you imagine if time was different in every dimension you went to? it’d be a nightmare to keep track.”
warrenwinged:
warren’s not too fond of the people here, despite his past with the lot of them. he’s figured out who his friends are and aren’t through simple gestures like who get’s mad at him for leaving and who completely and totally understands his absence. betsy is part of the latter group, someone he trusts with the entirety of his being, so he’s a bit taken aback when she snaps at him. he’s sure things are just going wrong right now and she’s having a tough time, so the tone of her voice doesn’t bother him too much.
“bets,” he says, gazing down at her with a worried look. “s’just me. you okay?”
betsy, sighed, realizing that she had overreacted without looking properly, without thinking about who was there. “there’s this group of kids who like to look at me like i’m a bomb,” she said, shaking her head. she had been taken over by forces much darker than her in the past—unfortunately, that was the version of her that people usually remembered. not the real version. “i’m getting really tired of them following me around here. i’m not about to explode for no reason.” betsy hated that she had that reputation. she hated that she was toxic.
ivehurtpeople:
“Shit can get outta hand Bets. I just wanna make sure those I care about know how to uh…well stop me if need be.” He responds with a heavy sigh and looks back up at her. With everything he had experienced throughout his life, specially those moments where he hurt someone he cared about all took a toll. If he was getting a second chance, why not make the most of it. It wasn’t like Charles was in a position to nag him about the possible consequences. “I mean I appreciate that you’re not tryin to kill me every other day but its just important to me alright?”
“How about we don’t talk about that shit?” she asked, though the question was absolutely rhetorical, thanks to the bite in her tone. “I’m not interested in preparing for everything bad that could happen. I’m not a doomsday prepper.” She pressed her lips together, letting out a slow sigh. “I’m going to be fine,” she replied. “I know what I’m doing. And I can take care of myself. Can we done with this part now? I missed you.”
lornahhhdane:
lorna had been doing what she had been doing for the most part since she had arrived in 1973, keeping to herself, even as she walked into the kitchen to prepare her dinner. she had always been more of an introvert, at least more than her family and friends. and after everything that had happened in the last few months she found it best to take a step back from everyone else. especially because she became so unpredictable when she became unhinged. the green haired mutant looked over at the other girl and shook her head. “ you’re asking me? the girl who’s shut herself in her room for the last few months? “ lorna asked in amusement. “ unlikable? nah. maybe a little more closed off than some of the others around here. but definitely not unlikable. and believe me, i know unlikable. you’ve heard of my dad, magneto, right?” she asked with a chuckle.
betsy wasn’t great at staying close with other x-mean. something always came between them, something always forced them to drift apart. usually, it was betsy’s own fault. she was particularly good at pushing people away these days, good at pretending that she wasn’t hurt by the fact that the more she looked around her, the more she realized that she was isolating herself. she didn’t know how to stop. she was trying to get better, but obviously, her social skills could use a little work. “you’re talking to the girl who’s extraordinarily good at making people feel like shit for no reason other than just being a psychopath. or something along those lines.”
ofwiccvn:
BILLY COULD BE SOCIABLE, but there are moments where he wants to get away from how busy the mansion can get. There was a lot of personalities meshed together, talking all at once, and he just liked to find somewhere more quiet. Which is how he found his way into a crawlspace with a book of spells he was studying. He thought that he was the only one that knew about it, but sees someone join him. Billy smiles at the woman though. “It definitely does, everyone can be so loud sometimes.”
Betsy shook her head. “I know, I know, I’m totally invading your area here, but if I’m quiet, you think I could hide up here, too?” she asked, a pleading smile on her face. “I promise that I’m good company. Totally quiet as a mouse.” She raised a finger to her lips as if to shush him—then she crawled into the crawlspace without even waiting to see if he was all right with it.
“So, if you’re an interdimensional traveler...” Betsy paused, trailing off slightly and tilting her head. “What do you do if you’re in one dimension and someone needs you in another dimension? Is there an interdimensional postal service?” She paused again. “And if you spend an extended period of time away from home—say, years—does that time pass the same at home? Or would you go back older but it be the same year where you’re from?” She paused, shaking her head. “I guess interdimensional travel is a lot for me to wrap my head around.”

Betsy often had a hard time finding space to be alone in the mansion. Even in her room, she was too open, too vulnerable to people just walking in and asking her for things. It wasn’t that she hated everyone there or didn’t want to pitch in when someone asked for her help, but sometimes, she just needed to be alone. Finally making her way up to the crawlspace in the mansion, she thought she had found the one area she had carved out as her own—and found someone else up there. She sighed, figuring that she couldn’t avoid it so she might as well steer into the skid. “It all gets to be a lot down there, doesn’t it?”

Betsy figured that if she was going to be around this place, she wasn’t going to take it if people were staring at her like she might explode. She knew that she had garnered a bit of a reputation—after her body switch and everything else that had happened with her mind getting taken over, she knew that people had seen how terrible her powers could be. For some of the younger residents of the mansion, that was intimidating—and so they seemed to have taken it upon themselves to make Betsy feel as much like an alien in that house as possible. “What?” she finally snapped, looking up at them. “I’m reading a book. I’m not going to do anything. Can you just leave me alone?
