today in fic writing adventures: caves do not have seasons (there can be delayed reactions to heavy precipitation aboveground but the water temperature has equalized by the time it gets down there so it doesnt get hotter or colder). however i have established previously that there is a wet season in the hollow knight world (im choosing to say there is a monsoon season aboveground depending on whatever the equivalent of the la nina/el nino pattern is in the hollow knight world. if there is one. they might not even be on a fucking planet man they might just have a flat plane or something even more esoteric. actually that kind of rules. endless flat wastes with island-kingdoms gathered around higher beings feels like it fits). so they would not have winter. there is bug agriculture canonically so they would have to have like. fallow seasons and harvest seasons but those are not determined by temperature in this universe. all this because i wanted to use "like shedding a winter cloak" as a metaphor but i dont think they would have winter cloaks. on account of not having winter.

Turn off the AI "correct misspelled words"

and most importantly: turn off Typing Insights.

It also only specifies that Microsoft themselves don't collect it, and they wouldn't have made this something that I was automatically, secretly opted in for without my knowledge if they didn't have something to be gained by me not knowing it exists!

I only found this because a cat walked on the keyboard and turned on Filter Keys and while trying to figure out why my keyboard was just making chirping noises instead of typing, I happened to click on "typing insights" by accident.

Generative AI, and especially AI that is used to "personalize" and track your activity across the web and on your computer are never going to be in your best interest, it is always going to serve these companies in whatever way will line their pockets the most, and all it takes is updating their terms of service once, and then all of that data they promised they weren't collecting suddenly all belongs to them.
