“I’m not sure Rachel would, but I will try to appeal to her sensitive side.” He smiled and winked. “I should be out of here on the 29th as long as everything goes the way it’s supposed to.” He ran his thumb across the back of her hand and shifted in the bed, wincing a little as he moved. “I’ll be in a wheelchair for two weeks until I heal from all of the surgeries,” he answered, shifting again, this time a little easier. “I’ll be back to bugging you in no time. He really couldn’t wait to be home with his daughter and in his own bed. His mom would come stay there and cook and clean and help with JD. So there was no reason for him to have to worry about taking care of himself at home. “I’m gonna spend a lot of time playing Mario. My game is gonna be strong.”
Wow. It seemed like Puck really did have his timeline down. Kitty was impressed, to say the least, but she realized quickly that it was probably not the most entertaining thing to sit in a hospital – especially when his daughter couldn’t see him as much as she wanted. Her heart squeezed a little harder in her chest and Kitty knew that Puck wasn’t the only one waiting for the 29th to roll around the corner. She smoothed her hand over his arm and gave him a playful roll of her eyes, “Oh, I’m sure that you’re going to be so disappointed by the ladies of Lima who will want to push you around the city and hearing all about one of Lima’s heroes. Her features softened all over again, though her brow still stayed furrow in slight concern, “You know you can call me, right? If you need…well, anything. I know we don’t want to play the whole “I owe you” game, but…that’s on top of the fact that you’re…one of my guys, you know?” Kitty’s lip curved up into a slight smirk and she looked down at their hands for a few moments before taking a breath and letting go, making sure that his hand was back on the bed. “I should let you sleep. Maybe you’ll get out earlier if you get that beauty rest that you’ve been missing out on.”
“They’re welcome to come give me a sponge bath anytime,” Puck replied, wiggling his eyebrows. He was definitely counting down the days to when he could be free. It was all he had to think about when he was alone in his room. He watched her hand move up and down his arm before she pulled away. “Hearing that I’m one of your guys is worth taking a bullet,” he joked, chucking a little, but he could see her walls going back up as she spoke and watched him. “Yeah, not that I’m kicking you out, but they’ll be in here to change my drip soon. I’m gonna miss it when I’m home. I might need to sneak a few out.”
