Ilya insisting that Yuna and David call him Ilya is so so perfect. He wants them to know him, not the cocky playboy hockey persona splashed all over tv. Ilya is Shane’s boyfriend. Rozanov is his rival. It took a decade for them to call one another by their first names. He’s not giving it up now.

i feel like theres also something to be said here about the switch from last name to first name with both of them. ever since it became "real", since shanes confession-lite, they've been calling each other by their first names, and ilya wants to keep that going while he's at the hollander home. weh

I've talked about this in tags but I need it to be a full post. There's something about Ilya wearing long sleeves here that kills me. I love that Shane is in a cozy hoodie, too, but it doesn't grab my attention as much because he's not dressed that differently from his usual wardrobe.

But Ilya? He's constantly showing off his body whenever he has the chance. This man is allergic to sleeves. He usually rips his shirt off at the first opportunity.

Ilya's usual wardrobe (or sometimes lack thereof lol) reflects the way he views his body as a commodity, like it's the only thing he has to offer, so he's constantly showing it off.

But then we have this beautiful montage showing the ways that Shane and Ilya have slotted into each other's lives in a pretty regular routine. It's a hot montage, but it's also creeping toward a feeling of domesticity, especially in this moment.

Wearing this shirt to a hookup shows that Ilya has reached a new level of comfort with Shane. He doesn't feel the same pressure to play the seduction game. Shane is going to kiss him the same way regardless of what he's wearing.

That plus the fact that Shane is taking control and pushing Ilya against the glass. Ilya's whole demeanor reflects the way he feels comfortable and taken care of in this moment and it does something particular to my heart.

I don't think Ilya is consciously thinking about why he dresses all comfy cozy for this hookup. He still has a while before he internalizes the truth that Shane wants him just as he is. But Ilya also tends to act based on feeling before he fully understands the subconscious behind those actions.

I love this demonstration of instinctual comfort he's feeling with Shane, even if he's not actively realizing it.

yeah actually shane and ilya touching feet just ruined my whole day. i cannot stomach the intimacy of being under glaring lights and cameras and reporters who don't speak your language and seeking the tiniest bit of comfort in touching shoes with a boy who has no reason at all to help you but is, and instead of moving away, that boy presses his entire foot to yours.

then nearly a decade later under the shocked and incredulous eyes of your parents, their idea of you exploding in real time as you sit with them at the table beside your supposed enemy to confess your love for him, you silently seek comfort under the table the same way he did all those years ago........and his foot finds yours first.

do.. you realize that it wasnt ilya on the cover of the videogame... its Shane? like, in the scene, ilya says that he'll be playing as the metro's, as shane, "I'm you". and then shane says "you're nothing", implying ilya (as shane) is nothing because hes shane. and THEN ilya holds the cover up to show shane himself to be like "I'm on the cover of the fucking game" while he's pretending to be shane. you. did everyone miss this.

Just thinking about Ilya telling Svetlana "I don't deserve you" and her immediately responding "yes, you do".

And Ilya telling Shane "You don't like me" and Shane immediately responding "Yeah, I do. I like you maybe a little too much".

Poor baby Ilya has exactly two people he truly loves in the world, who love him back, and he doesn't believe he's worthy of either of them.

what a lot of people on here don’t seem to understand is that shane is going to outfreak ilya every single time. I’m rewatching ep 1 and five (5) seconds into his very first gay experience ever shane hollander is on his knees hob slobbering. ilya puts his thumb near (near) shane’s mouth and shane is swallowing that thing. like yes ilya has more experience but shane has the vision
