-the cast literally sent him thank you cards for the presents and karen fukuhara asked him to sign some stuff and she kept it all because she loved it so much
-Jared and the director David Ayer has both confirmed that the condoms WERE NOT USED CONDOMS, and that some of the gifts like the anal beads etc were made up to create hype and that there were many other lovely gifts sent to the cast including cupcakes, jewellery for margot and books on witchcraft for cara
-the cast have all said that he brought them together and that they are thankful for him doing that because it created such a strong bond
-if you look at the ss premiere or anytime the cast are together ALL of them, yes including viola davis, have hugged him and smiled at him. They have all been open with him and have shown him open affection not knowing that cameras were filming them and without it being in the public eye.
-Margot Robbie has said many times that jared continuously asked her if she was okay between takes because he knew how intense it was and wanted to make sure she was good

suicide squad is going to be that movie that gets cooler as it ages. calling it now, it will be a comic book cult classic -- under appreciated by some now, but beloved.
first impressions: admittedly, i did let some negatively get to me and i think that really messed with my initial perception of the beginning of the film. i was worried before it even started, even though i was still excited. so first impressions were a bit sour —- i felt like some scenes were too short, or cut oddly. however, once i managed to let that negativity go and just, relaxed, and watched the movie, i enjoyed myself quite a bit !

afterwards: though i can see why some people may not have liked some of the editing choices, personally ? it made the movie feel more comic book-y. at first, like i mentioned above, i thought it was frustrating but it grew on me. it’s definitely not not a traditional film, or even a traditional comic book movie. very stylized in editing choices / effects. as far as characterization goes —- i thought everyone was spot-on, if not better. i truly didn’t care about deadshot at all before this movie, and now i will literally fight for him. everybody really seemed to have their moment to shine in battle, and shine as characters. where they showed some soul and talked about some harsh truths of their realities. i appreciated that quite a bit.
biggest weaknesses: it is obvious there were a lot of scene cuts for joker. i thought he was quite interesting, and i liked what leto was doing. for the flashbacks, i’m okay with getting what we got, but definitely for the present-time stuff i think they trimmed just a bit too much meat for him, which does make a lot of his present day scenes feel way too short. with that said, he was obsessive, possessive, manipulative, and clearly not someone you want to fuck with. definitely looking forward to more of his joker, hopefully with more scene time so we can really see the depths and complexities of what leto created. you catch glimpses of it in his longer scenes ( club + chemical wedding, most notably ) but don’t get any more opportunities to really let it sink. not something i attribute to him, but to just a lack of genuine screen time, even for a secondary character. much less than expected.
the squad did seem to bond a little too fast. i like the bond, just wish there was a bit more build-up.
i adore the music choices, though sometimes i think it was just a smidgen too loud when there was actual dialogue going on.
although overall i didn’t mind most of the way the film was cut, in some places it did bother me in the flashbacks because it felt a bit too fast. if those scenes had a chance to breathe more, it wouldn’t have been a problem. still fairly minor, in comparison to all the good this movie has, but it definitely would’ve benefited for slowing it down a bit in some areas.
biggest strengths: i can’t believe i’m saying this but deadshot. i was a little worried it was going to be will smith being will smith but, i personally adored him in this. i didn’t expect to get so emotionally invested in him but here we are. i was already pretty sure i would love the rest of the squad and i absolutely did, without question. harley quinn was as perfect as can be, there are just no words. boomerang is such a funny, conniving asshole, good lord. chato is actually a cinnamon roll. truly the purest of the squad, tbh. i would like to hang out with killer croc sometime, ngl. i didn’t care too much about rick ragg until later on in the movie but…he won me over. enchantress and katana should probably duke it out more often. i would absolutely watch that. the scenes with joker we do have! not everyone will like this joker, but if you’re open minded ( and leave comparisons at the door ) i think you may be pleasantly surprised.
i have a lot i do want to say about his joker but i’ll save that for after my second viewing. i will say that all the harley / joker scenes were absolutely spectacular, and easily a standout in this film. it’s pretty obvious to see why even critics who were being ( way too ) harsh on this movie, still seemed to be quite intrigued with this dysfunctional pair. definitely expect to see more layers of their relationship come to life in future films where they are present. it was a good ( if brief ) introduction to the joker and his relationship with harley. also amanda waller literally owns everyone’s ass okay bye.
final thoughts: i think this is the type of film that you need to watch more than once to really appreciate it’s unique, if imperfect, genius. this is more of a character driven movie, versus plot driven movie. the plot isn’t intricate, it’s pretty straight forward ( nothing we haven’t seen in other movies *cough* where it’s not a huge issue ). you have to leave negativity at the door. you have to leave comparisons at the door. you do need to come in with an open mind, and just be ready to — experience. it’s a lot to take in. and you may not like it. i think that’s fine! but this movie is definitely something so different, and unique that it does deserve being given a chance.
