checking out aion one last time in 6.0 sounded like a rad ass idea until i found out they nerfed the tits outta break power and now you know what?? you can have it damn
WTB WIND SPIRIT HAT ON BLADE AND SOUL Y’ALL DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH I MISS THAT THING.
I found the worst advice I’ve ever seen given so far for BnS. It’s no wonder that so many people are clueless as to how mechanics in these dungeons actually work, because they’re fed terrible information like this and lead to believe that the mechanics are the wrong way of doing things. It’s a downhill slope, and as we get more complex content as the year progresses, these kind of people and this kind of misinformation is going to really make shit rough.
Yikes
yeah i have to disagree a bit on this. while saying DON’T DO IT EVER is certainly a stretch, grab leaves a lot more room for error in a f8 group. run your clan/friend groups however you want, but the option to skip that mechanic would not be included if they didn’t want you to use it. players in other regions do the exact same thing. ccing for retaliation is a mechanic.
the only thing that really makes me roll my eyes with this is that no one should ever expect another party member to save them. people need to learn how to use their own iframes and not count on me to sheath them/etc just because i can.
I say it’s the worst advice, and my fault for not giving context, because this guy was new to the game, asking for some tips for 6 man. It’s what bothers me about the mentality of EU/NA players that because they know they CAN skip mechanics, they preach it as the only way to do something, and it’s building a really poor mentality that’s going to cause lots of problems further down the road in later content. It’s upsetting that the community now defaults to teaching players mechanics are something to be ignored, and it’s why a lot of players are going to do miserably in the future dungeons. I wouldn’t have been as upset if not for the “don’t ever get grabbed, it’s an automatic death” crap.
ah yeah, telling a new player that grab = death is pretty sad. i had someone argue with me that root was a retaliation cc and even after showing him it didn’t work that way he still wouldn’t have it because someone in his clan told him that. yikes.
i guess my point is that retaliation cc is still a mechanic that is working as intended, to me it’s the difference between walking into the ice or killing a vipercap to toss fireballs. you should probably know how to do both. granted it’s old content now but other regions did the same thing since it gives you a chance to avoid the aoe before the frozen debuff goes off. tho at the same time, look at cold storage where instead of even making an effort to learn mechanics most people just beat winter mane into the ground. MORE DAMAGE IS THE ANSWER!
what worries me is how many people don’t know how to dodge properly and don’t do really simple things like bring dragonblood. i mean it’s fine that everyone makes mistakes, but so many people just don’t even try and then yell at the fm/sum/bd/bm. WHY DIDN’T YOU SAVE ME? because you should have saved yourself. =_=
yep that’s the problem, people teach every new player they can that mechanics are something to be ignored and more DPS is all you need, and that’s why it’s gonna be a tragedy later. There are already people that think you can skip the CC’s on nexus first boss and just mindlessly DPS, and they think that it’s easier, or better, or whatever, and that misinformation spreads to the point where everyone does it. A good example is the wall mechanic on the bull in lab, everyone, and I mean everyone (at least on EU) tries to skip it at every opportunity they get, even though it’s free DPS time and makes things go faster. But oh no, it’s a mechanic, we better not do it, mechanics bad.
I’m really worried for future content if that behavior doesn’t change, the next set of dungeons we’re getting already has mechanics that can’t be ignored (though so does nexus, but I bet there’s people who try to skip clown man’s mechanics too, eugh), and it’s only gonna get more prevalent.
even better mechanics for example - damn totems in frozen fang. we’ve got into party with kfm (other than volmie) with cashed gems and upgrades, that didn’t even know how to tank, but did his best to not let aggro swap. on the boss, where it comes to leading it to jump on the totems, bro kept trying to dps and do nothing else. when i asked if he could lead it to the totem, he moved it almost into the corner. so me, damn sin, full burst mode, pulled it away to let vol grab aggro. guy got so pissy once he got aggro back that on second totem phase he kept making the boss to jump on me, almost killing me, following me all across the room, avoiding the totems to show that ‘he can’. how are we supposed to teach anyone mechanics when they behave like this tho. i’m trying my best, always. i have giant problems with recognizing the patterns, which on sin makes it pretty rough (especially on dark build), because of lack of iframes. but i’m trying, man, and i wish other people would too, instead of trying to find reasons to skip mechanics. i remember playing on jp - noone told us about the vent buff in Bloodshade. at a time it wasn’t needed. but we wouldn’t duo the dungeon skipping it, not with our ap at a time (at least when we did it for the first time).
i keep hoping that one day people will realize you’re not going to get wrecked by satanic yeti midgets if the boss jumps on the totems. in the meantime i’ll keep sliding around and hoping it jumps at me when i f8 fang. q_q
i know it will never happen but i wish more people took the initiative to learn. like all of the people who don’t bother to look at a guide or ask questions before they join necro... and then demand we clear all the mobs because they don’t know what to do. like, if someone says they are a first timer and drops the glide early i’ll go back without a problem, but the people who immediately yell at me to fix it for them? good luck with that! good ol’ western entitlement.
there are certainly a share of bad apples in the community and y’all definitely ran with one which i’m sorry for. maybe i’ve had good luck but i’ve found that there are more people who do genuinely want to learn than turds though which gives me a little bit of faith. even though i am lucky enough to have the luxury of ez clan speed runs, i still f8 often since i remember what it was like to be stuck with a bunch of bots and leechers. most people in my experience just need to be told what to do or see someone else doing it. unfortunately the ones who don’t want anything to do with constructive party play are always the loudest and most obnoxious. :/

YEAH THEY STILL TRY TO SKIP IN NEXUS. also, people using random cc on the first boss when the screen literally tells you which one to use. i’ve been pleasantly surprised with most of my pugs so far, but i’ve also only pugged it twice because i’ve heard so many horror stories. even the warlock in my last run mentioned that his last group quit on him because of one mistake. i understand that people have limited time, really! but i also think that in most cases you would spend less time actually explaining to people what happened than you will joining a bunch of new groups then constantly quitting if someone messes up. people who play games are humans, who knew.
omg don’t even get me started on naryu lab. i cannot WAIT until they give us extra options on the daily challenge in NA because i am so tired of lab day. tfw you are tanking ido, bombing ido, ccing ido, sheathing everyone an extra iframe, and still end up tanking all the adds after the only person who was trying dies (what’s dragonblood?). meanwhile the rest of the party is just punching into his shield even while asked to get adds or take over bomb. ʘ‿ʘ

Listen
I’m not past siren on any of my jewlery except my bracelet
I’m stuck at the oathbreaker weapon
I’m not gonna be able to get it any further bc of gold and soulstone problems, and if I’m gonna get enough of both of them I’m gonna have to do the same fucking things over and over again for months and I don’t have the patience to do that anymore.
I need a small dragon certificate to get the soulstones from pvp zen beans, but you can only get small dragon certificates from either a high floor on Mushin’s tower, or one of the lvl 50 dungeons.
See, I can’t get higher than Mushin’s tower F5 because of the timer. I don’t have enough dps, simple as that. And I can’t get the small dragon certificates because no one will let me into their party bc I have too low AP.
So, in conclusion, I’m stuck. I need to up my AP, but I can only do so if I get higher in Mushin (which I can’t without higher AP) or do the 50 dungeons, which I can’t because I have too low AP.
Just… what the fuck am I supposed to do???? Why are the upgrade requirements so ridiculously high? Why ruin such an amazing game!?!??! I waited for this for FIVE YEARS.
Also, there’s absolutely no way I’m getting the moonstones which are gonna be needed from me very soon to get any further, bc they’re from soulstone plains and I assume I have too low AP to get them too??? Because only range classes can get shit done, or if you have 500+ AP. I have 404. I don’t even have the Naryu Labyrinth soul yet.
I also have these problems on the very first character I made just two days after the NA launch.
d-do you want some advice? ._.
“why don’t u play aion anymore man”
So I’ve just been informed that groups in Avalanche Den no longer let the yeti pick a person up and give said person the heat buff. If you do AD this way, you’re supposed to let your team know this is how you’re going to do it cause no one does it that way anymore, even though every single time I run with clan (and we always pug a couple spots at least), people seem to understand what we’re doing without us saying how we’re going to do AD. Apparently people do it the different way with all the stunning, etc. (which really…expecting pugs to do?) cause you lose “too much melee dps” by doing it the “old-fashioned” way, even though it legit takes me like 10s tops to grab the buff and get back in as a kungfu master.
Was this person just bullshitting out of their ass or do people actually strongly prefer to do it the “cheating” way?
as a fm i 100% prefer the cc way because i can do everything myself so less is left to chance. glacial beam, frost sheath, boom. i’m running f8 yeti a lot right now (unfortunately) and i’ve seen just about everything go wrong. people don’t pay attention to who’s going to be thrown and/or toss out a random cc hoping that someone will finish it. not to mention the people who get thrown and immediately get up to start running away from the group. times like that i don’t have a choice but to throw double cc or a good portion of the group’s going to die. sometimes it’s a struggle for people in 6man pugs to get their goddamn dragonblood.
i do make sure to let everyone know before we start the run that i’m going to cc, so the absolute most they have to do is get under the yeti when it jumps. only times i have trouble are when someone doesn’t listen and does an air combo or it enrages because we didn’t have enough dps. (getting under a big furry butt and/or paying attention to your debuff timer, also a struggle, i guess?)
avalanche den nightmares
that random knockback when you’re attempting to cc the yeti
watching yeti fly into the air after you manage to do it anyway
the high ap person who leaves because f8 didn’t give them 500+
the level 49 with less than 380 AP that replaces them
HAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHA
better question would have been “i need one sm army + to explain me some thing about eternal bastion”
that’s the seventh time i’ve failed +13
thanks, ncsoft
local level 56 glad gets kicked from a ts group, proceeds to challenge everyone in lfg to pvp irl.
THIS IS AMAZING
sry for the shit gfx but damn my sheep is adorable
