we're back home but [father in law] keeps pressing and screaming, we had to take refuge in the mold room with our kids, he kept screaming at me outside the room until way past 3am idk how safe we are with him around the worst is we have to check before going out of the room to either go eat/drink or if we need to use the restroom we also ran out of water, we can't flush the toilet or wash our hands he made my partner, his son, fall down after he pulled his cane from him, now his ankle hurts we have had no peace since we came back still unsure what we'll do we don't want to leave our home

Thank you I did pay my healthcare!!! I was hoping with the extra I could get my meds but we ended up using it for food and taking my MiL to the hospital because of gastrointestinal pain, she had to stay under supervision for a whole night and is scheduled for more tests on Tuesday. We’re pushing her healthcare services to schedule her for a gastroenterologist as soon as possible, she has been unable to eat which has been a terrible combination with her diabetes. Can we ask for help affording her ensure bottles so she can at least eat that? We’ll need to do something about the humidity and mold soon, we get trapped in the rooms often, last night it took us over an hour to be able to reopen a door even with both my partner and me pushing. We need to get adult diapers btw. Please, anything helps!!!!

You know, it’s real nice that we got help to pay the vet bills and help my kid keep his cat safe and healthy but wow. It is obvious we do not matter at all. The moment our cat needed help we got the goals, both times But I’ve been trying to get my meds for weeks or months at a time and nothing. It’s real hard not to fucking cry

I know it’s hard for everyone but please, keep sharing, anything ANYTHING helps. We’ve been getting a bit of food and paying little by little what we owe at the corner store but the upcoming card payment is $190 and my meds are $130 and then let’s not forget my healthcare renewal. I also bring bad news, we’re starting with water shortages just like last year, we’ve gone from having 4 days of water a week to 1-2 if we’re lucky. Our only toilet is busted and there are 9 people here who use it. My kid still needs attention for a UTI he’s had for a couple of months now. And my partner has 3 ingrown nails and 2 big cuts on his feet he’s kept unattended for weeks. You Can’t Sweets Your Way Into Diabetes

There are a lot more factors at play in diabetes — more complicated than “I had a cupcake at lunch.”

Pre-diabetes was rejected as a diagnosis by the World Health Organization (although it is used by the US and UK) - the correct term for the condition is impaired glucose tolerance. Approximately 2% of people with "pre-diabetes" go on to develop diabetes per year. You heard that right - TWO PERCENT. Most diabetics actually skip the pre-diabetic phase.

There are currently no treatments for pre-diabetes besides intentional weight loss. (Hmm, that's convenient, right?) There has yet to be evidence that losing weight prevents progression from pre-diabetes to T2DM beyond a year. Interestingly, drug companies are trying to persuade the medical world to start treating patients earlier and earlier. They are using the term “pre-diabetes” to sell their drugs (including Wegovy, a weight-loss drug). Surgeons are using it to sell weight loss surgery. Everyone’s a winner, right? Not patients. Especially fat patients.

1️⃣ You can't prevent insulin resistance. It's coded in your DNA. It may be impacted by your environment. Studies have shown it has nothing to do with your BMI.

2️⃣ The term "pre-diabetes" is a PR stunt. The correct term is impaired glucose tolerance (or impaired fasting glucose) which is sometimes referred to as intermittent hyperglycemia. It does not predict T2DM. It is best ignored and tested for every 3-5yrs.

3️⃣ there is no evidence that losing weight prevents diabetes. That's because you can't reverse insulin resistance. You can possibly postpone it by 2yrs? Furthermore there is evidence that those who are fat at the time of diagnosis fair much better than those who are thin.

4️⃣ Weight loss does not reverse diabetes in the VAST majority of people. Those that do reverse it are usually thinner with recent onset T2DM and a low A1c. Only a tiny minority can sustain that over 2yrs. Weight loss does not improve A1c levels beyond 2 yrs either.

5️⃣ Weight loss in T2DM does not improve macrovascular or microvascular health outcomes beyond 2 years. In fact, weight loss in diabetics is associated with increased mortality and morbidity (although it is not clear why). Weight cycling is known to impacts A1c levels.

6️⃣ Weight GAIN does NOT increase the risk of cardiovascular OR all causes mortality in diabetics. In fact, one might even go so far as to say that it's better to be fat and diabetic than to be thin and diabetic.

Abdulrahman from Gaza – He needs your help

I want to share the story of Abdulrahman, a high school student from Gaza. The war has taken everything from him — his home, his safety, and even the basic environment he needs to study. Since the beginning of the attacks, Abdulrahman’s house was completely destroyed. He now lives in a tent that doesn’t protect him from the cold or the heat. One day, it rained for just five minutes, and his tent flooded. His books were soaked, and the simple laptop he used for studying was damaged.Despite all of this, Abdulrahman is still holding on to his dream of education. He’s now trying to get a passport so he can leave Gaza and find a better chance at life and learning.
