New to this shit, so I thought I'd give a small intro. I'm one of the several owners of this account, call me JJ. Pretty blunt, straight forward about the topics I'll speak on. I'll be speaking on hardcore punk, the history, and including other popular punk bands who helped this community grow. I will also be speaking on various political topics that have correlation with punk. Everything I stand for is rebellious. However, since I'm new; I need ideas to speak on. Sorry for not posting, we got busy! But happy new year to you all. I hope you did something fun. Not gonna go too crazy in detail today like a usually would. Today's song of the day from me is No Such Thing by Agent Orange released in 1981. Its apart of the Living In Darkness album. If you haven't given this band a listen, you totally should. -JJ

SONG OF THE DAY : DAY 2

We're back with another song of the day. Feelin' a little lazy today, so I'll keep it short and easy.

Todays song of the day is Possessed to Skate by Suicidal Tendencies, apart of the Join The Army album released in 1987. This track is Thrashy, and hardcore, considered the cornerstone of the "skate punk" genre, and remains as one of the bands' popular songs. Many dont know, but Suicidal tendencies was gang affiliated. Hence why they were seen wearing lots of blue. The band emerged the same time around V13 did, and the drummer was seen in some photos wearing a "V13" hat, supposedly borrowed from his brother, created even more speculation. - JJ

Much love for the feedback, anon! My favorite raw punk band by far as got to be DK. Pretty generic answer, however the earlier albums from DK are raw as shit. I wouldn't say DK is the rawest punk band, but its up there on my list. Mud's favorite raw band is Gloom, give the Noise For Moblish Demo a listen and you'll understand. If there's one pop punk band Mud knows all about, it has got to be blink 182. His favorite album is the Short Bus EP, released in 1994. Send in more questions! We'd love to answer. -JJ

SONG OF THE DAY 2 - MUD

now this may not seem like my sub genre and it really is/isnt, Im starting a hardcore band in real life of course but pop punk will always be my go too. Anyway my song of the day is "Straight edge" by minor threat. This song has showed me that i dont have to be intoxicated to have fun and now i am straight edge myself honestly one of the best things ever is to feel healthy and being edge can help you. XXX -Mud

SONG OF THE DAY

Starting this week me(JJ) and some of the other owners will do a song of the day for each of us. Since we all cover different punk subgenres. My song of the day will be Rock-N-Roll Victim by Death, released in 2009. This song refers to the autobiography Rock-N-Roll Victims, the Story of a Band Called Death, written by Bobby Dean Hackney. Death was formed by brothers David, Bobby, and Dennis Hackney in Detroit around the 1970s. These men created a raw, fast, heavy sound that predated punk rock, incorporating elements of hard rock and proto-punk. They faced racial barriers due to the predominately white rock scene and industry pressure. An example of the racial barriers they faced is the type of music they played. In the 1970s Motown era, Black artist were expected to play soul or funk music. When Death played aggressive rock music inspired by bands like The Who and Alice Cooper, they faced lots of backlash because they (white people) didn't understand the music. With all the backlash from white people and the pressure from the label to change their name, which they refused to due, led to their disbandment in 1977. Decades later, their music is rediscovered, leading to the 2009 release of their recordings as ...For the Whole World to See, revealing them as pioneers.
