(( Meant to share this sooner - but look at the beautiful commission I got from @rick-and-forty !
I'm poor so I got a simple flat color with no background XD but look how handsome they drew my boyyyyy!!
That smirk looks so good on him :3 I need to draw him more like a "Rick" more often XD ))
everytime i wear an outfit like this i think about this tweet
something i noticed about the first two episodes of this season - they are both about who rick and morty, across dimensions and realities, are at their core.
episode 1 - we see two very different mortys. one who openly cares about his family, openly seeks his grandfather’s approval/attention, is insecure about his abilities, and does not try to hide any of this. in contrast to evil morty who, underneath all of the supposed apathy and intelligence, is just as needy for attention and validation as morty prime but refuses to accept or acknowledge his need for connection. at the end of the day, no matter how smart or inventive or independent they are, a morty is still a 14 year old boy who craves validation and connection, especially from a rick.
episode 2 is far more obvious - we see a rick without his tragic backstory. for what seems like decades, he’s been wiping his memories for a couple weeks every year just to pretend that he isn’t himself. this works until tragedy strikes, and we see him revert quite quickly to the rick we know, despite having no recollection of his past traumas. rick will always be rick - he’ll always have his intelligence, his apathy, his tendency towards depression, and it’s not something he can escape just by wiping his memories.

Nothing beats the experience of seeing some true tumblr discourse float by and reading like two paragraphs into a post and suddenly realizing “oh wait. I don’t care” and scrolling right past
Are you saying there’s something problematic about kidnapping people and performing exploratory surgery on them?
@chaumas-deactivated20240115 Well as long as we're in agreement about that, take off your shirt and get on the lab table.
Flesh Curtains era Birdrick a 100 years!
you are playing with an imaginary toy in an imaginary sandbox. fandom is all about having fun and letting your imagination run wild. canon is only a suggestion, not a rule. how much of canon you will follow, if any, is entirely up to you.
please stop trying to apply rules on hobbies and something that’s supposed to be your comfort place and a form of self-care.
“is it okay if I think this” “is it okay if I imagine that” it’s YOUR little world that you create for yourself and your own enjoyment. you literally do not need strangers’ opinions or permission when it comes to a hobby that doesn’t harm or affect anybody in real life. again, it’s YOUR imagination, YOUR world, YOUR creation. you have all the power and the freedom to:
headcanon whatever you want, however you want
ship whatever you want, however you want
write whatever you want, however you want
draw whatever you want, however you want
create whatever you want, however you want
reject whatever you want, however you want
as long as you’re not harming anybody in real life, how you have fun with fictional characters and your imagination is no one’s business but your own’s.
last but not least: fiction is not, and will never be, a reflection of your real-life moral compass. what you like in fiction does not reflect who you are in real life as a person. kill that cop in your head.
