Ansbach is not spared from St. Trina's cavalier affections today. Loving just to love; extending mirth like an stubborn root beneath the growth of the land. However, she is kinder about the approach, sweeping in like an unseen ghost. As unseen someone of her height could be before she dips down and places a somnolent crown of laced lilies together aloft his head.

She sings a chime of giggles before planting a kiss over the top of his helmet, sealing him with a spell of serenity.

Ansbach was quite thoroughly surprised by the sudden crown placed over his helm. The scent of lilies seemed to accompany Trina always regardless, but the gentle smell of them wafted much more strongly now that they'd been put upon him so near to his nose.

And then came the kiss - pressed to his helm and not his skin, and yet the kiss startled him all the same, even if it could not be fully felt. It was soothing, even though it surprised him, a calmness spreading through his nerves.

Yet still he turned to Trina and looked up her way, one hand clutched to his breast. "My lady..." He was at a loss for words, for he could not tell if she was yet being playful, or if he ought to interpret this as some confession of deeper affection.

Him, an old man, the subject of the affections of a fair lady? A demigoddess at that.

The mere thought was absurd.

He asked anyway, "Wherefore do you shower me with such gifts of gentle adoration? 'Tis most unexpected."

Happy birthday to me. Feeling almost as old as Ansbach looks.

There was suddenly a hitch in Mohg's breath. And for a moment he lifted his head to look upon Ansbach.

"How... Did you know...?"

He spoke words that the red-maned general himself could not relay. And Mohg was, himself, full of shame. That he hadn't said anything to Ansbach that his body was occupied by two souls and not just the one -- his own.

In truth, he had tried to keep this knowledge to himself. That, were Ansbach to know, it would only upset him... A fool he was, that he did not try harder.

He reached out, carefully, gently setting his hand against Ansbach's back, pressing his brow down against Ansbach's head.

"... You fought... You fought, and though it was a long time coming... You won."

"I did not... It was a suspicion," Ansbach said gently. "The way your flesh has been stubbornly marred with his visage was the first clue - but more than that, the gravity magics... My dear lord, an altering of flesh alone would not lend you such power."

He'd been reminded of Mohg's outburst, and the way the stone had shifted in a manner alike to the Carian general's gravity spells, specifically by the way the red mane defied Ansbach.

And he felt it - in the way Mohg wanted these features gone, but part of his will had bristled against it, had stubbornly hated the idea of its parting. And he knew... he began to realize, he'd made a mistake. "I was not aware that you were aware. 'Twas but idle speculation on my part, something I thought you hadn't considered... But I do not begrudge you, for hiding it from me. For I was careless," Ansbach sighed as he pressed his forehead against Mohg's in turn. "I wanted you back, at any cost. I did not take the time to properly prepare your body... And you've paid the price. As has Radahn, I take it."

"... Whatever you may think... If there was anything else that could have been done... This is the best possible outcome... These are the words of General Radahn; as they are my own."

He sighed in turn. Shutting his eye as he held Ansbach, fingers tenderly curling around the old knight's waist.

"... I am sorry I did not tell you sooner... I did not want you to blame yourself. Anymore than you already do."

So Radahn was lucid within him too? He hadn't been sure of that. He'd only figured some sleeping part of him had been partly aware he was not fully dead. To be haunted so terribly...

How awful.

And yet it helped, to know that neither Mohg nor Radahn were angry with him for this mistake.

Ansbach let Mohg hold him near. To think that Radahn had borne witness to all of the intimate moments between himself and his lord... Well, it couldn't be helped.

"I am glad to know I was right, truth be told. It means that this part of your revival may be reversible. I understand that General Radahn does not wish to go - but the very fact that he can is some small hope."

... It was a relief, too, that the General, in his lucidity, had it not within himself to wrest control of Mohg's flesh. There were moments where he would hold Mohg back; but... He did not seek complete and total control. But Mohg felt within his heart, that Radahn was emboldened, fueled with the strong desire to live.

It was a desire that Mohg shared. Now more than ever. But they, too, wished to exist as their own separate persons... And with the destruction of Radahn's flesh... Was there any hope for either of them?

"... Thank you... For being understanding..."

Ansbach leaned more fully against his lord, closing his eyes as he embraced him.

"You could never do anything to anger me, my lord," he said, and he meant it. Mohg could strip him of his flesh, could swallow him whole, could cast him out again - and Ansbach would never find it within himself to hate him, to begrudge him anything. "And no matter the state you are in, though it pains me when you suffer, I will love you." Mohg could have come back to him as a shambling corpse and Ansbach would have loved him still.

Had Ansbach not already pledged his blade to another master, perhaps he would have joined Thiollier's side, and become Trina's blade himself. But his heart and blade had long been claimed, by the Lord of Blood and the Mother of Truth; such oaths were not easily forgotten without compulsion, without a thieving of his heart.

He laughs lightly at Trina calling him wise - or near mad. Wisdom, perhaps, he at least tries to evoke, even if he feels a fool sometimes. "Madness, certainly, I dance with," he admits. One has to be half mad to defy the Golden Order in the first place, particularly as a servant to the Lord of Blood.

"Had I to choose the sort of dream I desire..." Ansbach strokes his false beard once more. "It would be a lovely dream, to be hand in hand with someone I cherished while in a garden of blood roses. The details I give you leave to determine, my lady." Even the cherished one, for there were many he cherished, not simply his lord. Chaste, perhaps, as far as desires went, but the knight is not the hedonistic sort.

" For a madman, you are well-spoken. " Yet, St. Trina is often left to wonder how true his statement were. Did severing oaths with the Erdtree cast one's fragile mind into total disarray? Into some chaotic chasm of infinity? Oh, she had always wondered what lays beyond the golden veil.

The possibilities weaved between her fingers, threading theater within her grasp. To deliver the wants of this man, of whom he might cherish . . . The demi-goddess ponders ethics. Should such apply in the pursuit of personal desires? She would need to rummage the cache of his memories for such a person, beyond what she might assume, and while Miquella held no qualm to take as he pleased — St. Trina often stood opposite of these actions.

" Shall we move to a proper resting place? Or, have you already gone so mad that you prefer to collapse over the floor and rest easy here? " she teased, sparkling as she did.

Ansbach made a sort of startled noise at the realization of what, precisely, he'd asked for. Oh... Oh he had inadvertently invited the lady to his bedchambers, hadn't he? Oh how... How terrible of him!

His face flushed bright red, and he was terribly thankful that he yet wore the mask which hid his horrible embarrassment.

"F-forgive me, I swear to you, my lady, I hadn't... I did not consider, logistically, the offer of a dream, and where you might grant me sleep..." Ansbach looked about him, towards the pillars of the palace, towards the false sky of Siofra, and thought. "Perhaps... Not here, but somewhere quiet and hidden, I could afford to take a nap. A corner somewhere. Have you anything in mind?"

He would not suggest his bedchambers - that the thought had crossed his mind even once was too shameful.

As Ansbach was shifted off of him, he stayed near to Mohg's side, hands upon him to try and keep him steady. "My lord," he said with some mild alarm as he made to stand. "Do not push yourself. I have not finished your grooming - you needn't worry over this now." Of course, their talk perhaps had worried Mohg too greatly. How could the Lord of Blood focus on anything else when both his brother's and his own life were at stake? Ansbach should have saved such talk for after he'd finished his ministrations, or at least when he'd been closer to finishing.

"... I... Do not mean to worry you, dear Ansbach," said the winged omen. He couldn't bring himself to a full stand. Not yet at least.

"... If there... If there is any action that is to be taken... I must first regain my own strength... If I am to meet with him... I need to remember, first, how to stand on my own two feet."

There was a pause. As the Lord of Blood settled back down with a sigh, looking to Ansbach.

"... I do not think you could aid me with such a task."

It was a jest made with the intent of shedding some lightheartedness.

"I cannot help but worry," Ansbach said honestly.

Though he did smile gently at Mohg poking fun at his small stature and lack of great strength.

"Would that I could lift you up myself. But I don't imagine I ever had such strength, even in my youth. And I certainly do not now." Still, he offered himself as support, pressing into his side. "Come... If you must stand on your own before you will see him, let us at least begin to remind your legs how they must work. One leg at a time. If I must find you a staff to lean upon, I shall - use me as your crutch in the meantime."

Perhaps the knight was simply begging to be crushed by the weight of his master, but he was hopeful - hopeful that Mohg's legs would remember how to obey him, at least for a short period.

... That made two of them. The fact that Ansbach worried was something that Mohg appreciated. Though for the old man's sake, he wished it were not so.

... Aye, and he wished he himself did not worry so...

"... Once you are done," said Mohg, shutting his eye. "Then... I will try."

Ansbach couldn't help the little laugh as Mohg told him to finish the grooming. "My lord, I beg you warn me next time you attempt to stand on your own. I would have asked for the same - that you stay in place until I was finished. Please, do not over exert yourself again."

The knight coaxed him to settle in place once more, before moving back in front of him to inspect his handiwork at Mohg's feathers upon his chest and shoulders. The task had been mostly done; a warm bath would finish the job, when he was able to take one. His tangled, wild mane was another story. It needed some taming, and washing alone was not going to help. A brush might do, but Ansbach wondered how Radahn had ever kept his hair in check - if he ever did at all.

Snatching up a soft bristle hair brush, Ansbach came around to Mohg's back, running one hand over his spine with a hum. "Are you able to curl forward for me, my lord, that I may reach your head better? Or perhaps you are able to lay down upon your belly or your side."

He should have thought of that before... Attempting to stand on his own when he had not the strength in his legs. It brought him back to a time; a time where he could not quite discern its distance. Left stranded in the middle of a vast dune, corpses left in the sand. He had not the strength to walk on his own, for his feet had long since rotted away... For the longest time, he relied upon his noble steed; his ever faithful Leonard.

... These memories were not his own. And Mohg could only sigh forlornly to himself.

Once more did he shift, trilling softly at the touch upon his back, before settling himself down on his stomach as Ansbach had suggested. The red mane itself seemed to move almost as if it had a life of its own; standing up as if charged by an unseen energy.

Ansbach's heart fluttered at the sound of his little trill, and he couldn't help but lean over him and press a gentle kiss to Mohg's face, just above his horn pierced eye. "I thank you," he said with a smile, glad that his lord was so receptive to his suggestions.

Carefully, the brush went to his mane. It almost seemed electrified, the way it flowed freely, and he had to hold each strand with one hand as he brushed it through with the other. He... honestly hated the sight of the red locks. Hated what this hair represented, what it meant, like its presence a scar marring poor Mohg's body. But he wouldn't say so. For even still, he found his lord beautiful, and did not want Mohg to think otherwise for even a single moment.

"How does it feel?" Ansbach asked, wondering about his opinion instead. "The brushing. Having a head of hair." It had to feel strange, didn't it? Mohg never had hair upon his head before, as far as Ansbach knew - only horns.

... Disgusted... Every time he glimpsed a strand of red out of the corner of his eye. Every time he beheld a reflection of himself. Ever would that red mane serve as a reminder of Mohg's ultimate worth.

'Vessel'.

How he wanted to cut it all from himself. And yet the spirit of Radahn remained stubborn. Stubborn, but some small part remorseful...

The winged omen drew in a deep breath and sighed. Every motion of the brush was accompanied with a subtle 'snap' and 'crackle' as the brush combed through the crimson hair. And for a moment, he looked up at Ansbach with a half-lidded gaze.

"... It soothes... The brushing."

Ansbach was no mind reader, but he knew Lord Mohg well. He could tell by the way he hesitated in his answer, by the gentle sigh, and the lidded gaze, the hair was causing him great agony. Along with the red feathers, surely, and his sudden propensity for gravity magics. It was all a reminder of the clinging soul that wouldn't vacate his body.

Large as Mohg was, his body still wasn't big enough for two souls. Especially when the clinging one was as loud and boisterous as Radahn's.

"We could try to cut the hair, if that would please you," Ansbach offered, even as he continued to brush it. He was doing his best not to let the strands shock him as he brushed, but some static discharged onto his hands as he brushed all the same. All gravity magic, Ansbach was sure. "Perhaps it would at least be more manageable. And cause you less distress."

The hair itself seemed to react to Ansbach's suggestion; standing erect, the mane became fluffier than it already was as if in protest. And in that moment, a voice spoke in Mohg's mind that only he could hear:

'Don't... Please...'

Still Radahn clung to him. A soul that refused to yield; to let go... How humbled the mighty general had been; his pride and dignity degraded by the Scarlet Rot... How afraid he was... A brief moment where he was free of it; but now he was a soul anchored to flesh that did not belong to him.

"... It would do no good," said Mohg at last. "Just as the feathers fall from my body, so, too, will they grow... And ever shall they bear his red."

Ansbach could feel Mohg's hair bristle. Or was it the Carian general bristling at him?

The knight sighed, and pressed himself gently over Mohg's shoulder in a half embrace, to try and comfort him. To comfort Radahn's spirit as well.

For Ansbach held no anger for Radahn. The proud man hadn't wanted any of this either, had been made just as much a victim - made to go mad, to have his body rot away, to be slain and revived in a body not his own. Charmed as well, after being made pliable within Mohg's tender flesh. Ansbach pitied him too. It wasn't fair for only one of them to live, was it? But neither was it fair for Mohg to bear his wraith, who clung so desperately to life.

"General Radahn," Ansbach spoke gently now to the spirit within his lord. "Please know that I bear no grudge against you. This was not my intention, to leave you buried within the heart of my lord when we coaxed his soul back into his flesh."

He'd assumed Radahn had fled the flesh when Mohg's body had been slain by the Tarnished during the battle against Miquella. A grave error on his part...

"This is all my fault," Ansbach whispered, despair in his voice.

"... I... Do not mean to worry you, dear Ansbach," said the winged omen. He couldn't bring himself to a full stand. Not yet at least.

"... If there... If there is any action that is to be taken... I must first regain my own strength... If I am to meet with him... I need to remember, first, how to stand on my own two feet."

There was a pause. As the Lord of Blood settled back down with a sigh, looking to Ansbach.

"... I do not think you could aid me with such a task."

It was a jest made with the intent of shedding some lightheartedness.

"I cannot help but worry," Ansbach said honestly.

Though he did smile gently at Mohg poking fun at his small stature and lack of great strength.

"Would that I could lift you up myself. But I don't imagine I ever had such strength, even in my youth. And I certainly do not now." Still, he offered himself as support, pressing into his side. "Come... If you must stand on your own before you will see him, let us at least begin to remind your legs how they must work. One leg at a time. If I must find you a staff to lean upon, I shall - use me as your crutch in the meantime."

Perhaps the knight was simply begging to be crushed by the weight of his master, but he was hopeful - hopeful that Mohg's legs would remember how to obey him, at least for a short period.

... That made two of them. The fact that Ansbach worried was something that Mohg appreciated. Though for the old man's sake, he wished it were not so.

"... Once you are done," said Mohg, shutting his eye. "Then... I will try."

Ansbach couldn't help the little laugh as Mohg told him to finish the grooming. "My lord, I beg you warn me next time you attempt to stand on your own. I would have asked for the same - that you stay in place until I was finished. Please, do not over exert yourself again."

The knight coaxed him to settle in place once more, before moving back in front of him to inspect his handiwork at Mohg's feathers upon his chest and shoulders. The task had been mostly done; a warm bath would finish the job, when he was able to take one. His tangled, wild mane was another story. It needed some taming, and washing alone was not going to help. A brush might do, but Ansbach wondered how Radahn had ever kept his hair in check - if he ever did at all.

Snatching up a soft bristle hair brush, Ansbach came around to Mohg's back, running one hand over his spine with a hum. "Are you able to curl forward for me, my lord, that I may reach your head better? Or perhaps you are able to lay down upon your belly or your side."

He should have thought of that before... Attempting to stand on his own when he had not the strength in his legs. It brought him back to a time; a time where he could not quite discern its distance. Left stranded in the middle of a vast dune, corpses left in the sand. He had not the strength to walk on his own, for his feet had long since rotted away... For the longest time, he relied upon his noble steed; his ever faithful Leonard.

... These memories were not his own. And Mohg could only sigh forlornly to himself.

Once more did he shift, trilling softly at the touch upon his back, before settling himself down on his stomach as Ansbach had suggested. The red mane itself seemed to move almost as if it had a life of its own; standing up as if charged by an unseen energy.

Ansbach's heart fluttered at the sound of his little trill, and he couldn't help but lean over him and press a gentle kiss to Mohg's face, just above his horn pierced eye. "I thank you," he said with a smile, glad that his lord was so receptive to his suggestions.

Carefully, the brush went to his mane. It almost seemed electrified, the way it flowed freely, and he had to hold each strand with one hand as he brushed it through with the other. He... honestly hated the sight of the red locks. Hated what this hair represented, what it meant, like its presence a scar marring poor Mohg's body. But he wouldn't say so. For even still, he found his lord beautiful, and did not want Mohg to think otherwise for even a single moment.

"How does it feel?" Ansbach asked, wondering about his opinion instead. "The brushing. Having a head of hair." It had to feel strange, didn't it? Mohg never had hair upon his head before, as far as Ansbach knew - only horns.
