Today's wasp of the day is the eastern cicada killer (Sphecius speciosus)!

It's hard to not notice when its cicada time, the sound of cicadas screaming in the distance is a hallmark of summer. And with the cicadas comes all their predators, one of the most iconic being the large googly eyed wasps that hunt them. Despite being one of the largest wasps found in north and central American, the eastern cicada killer wasp is still often smaller (and much lighter) than its prey. To overcome this, the wasps will often be seen hauling their paralyzed prey up trees before taking off with them from a high point to avoid wasting energy trying to gain altitude.

This is easily one of the CRAZIEST videos I've ever gotten. I was rafting down a river when a Yellow Jacket came, landed on my bright pink waterproof phone pouch, and started drinking from the water droplets that had gathered there.

The most amazing part is how the water droplet magnifies the Hornet's mouth parts, so you get to see them up-close!!!! It was FASCINATING to witness!

Break every single one of them up into companies based around a single product and then split those in thirds.
