Okay, I’m basically going to be using this as a diet diary to track my progress and let me compare.
I’m using MyFitnessPal to log my calories and exercise each day, and I’ve got an app that links with it to log my steps taken each day.
I’m 5 ft 2, and currently 70kg (154lbs). This apparently equates to a BMI of 28, which is considerably overweight and borderline obese >.<
By the end of this, I want to get back into a “normal” weight level, which means being about 60-62kg.
Before the accident, I was a size 8. I know I’ll probably never get back to that again, but I will settle for a 10. I’m currently a size 12-14, dependent on which shop I go to, so I have quite a bit of work to do.
I’m going to get hold of a tape measure and start measuring my waist size and comparing it to my height, since apparently the optimal waist size is half your height. I don’t yet have one, but I used string to check and I am most definitely no where near that goal.
So, today I start, and I know that christmas will somewhat hinder this, but I’m hoping by the end of January I can be comfortable in my size.
Unfortunately my gym membership runs out at the beginning of December, but I have weights at home, and will still have my pedometer app and calorie tracker, so can try keep on top of it.
Got some meal ideas lined up that are apparently healthier and such so going to try those.
Starting off with a Green Tea diet; when I feel peckish I make some green tea (got so many different flavours of green tea, it’s one way to get through them all). If that doesn’t work then fruit it is!
I’m not just doing this to improve my body image, but also for my actual health. Familial hypercholesterolemia runs in my family, and having recently had a fasting blood lipids test done, I found out my cholesterol is very high at 7.2. With my current weight, I’m probably at risk of heart disease and such. I’ve been referred to a metabolic clinic so hopefully they can help me take steps towards lowering my cholesterol, by altering my diet or by putting me on statins (yay, more drugs). So yeah, I need to kick myself into gear or I’m heading for an early heart attack!
This isn’t for anyone else. This is for me. It just helps me to write it all down (somewhere I won’t lose it). Although if anyone has any awesome (but cheap, I am a student after all) recipes they fancy passing on, then that would be great!
