I'm an 18 year old Bachelor of Social Sciences and Humanities from Argentina, currently in the process of getting a licence in literature and translator's degree, both in english. INTJ Slytherin. “I hate political correctness” translated “I hate treating people who are different from me with even the smallest amount of respect”

More often than not, that translation is incorrect. Try:

“I hate walking on pins and needles around people because anything I say could be construed as being offensive”

or

“I hate people walking on pins an needles around me because they don’t want to hurt my feelings”

or

“I want to know how people really feel and what they really think, not what political correctness dictates how they should feel or think about me”

or

“I want to express how I really feel or what I really think, not cushion what I say as to not hurt another person’s feelings”

There’s a difference between treating someone else with respect as another human being, and completely doctoring your language, literature, art, actions and opinions as to avoid hurting the feelings of sensitive people. The former is common courtesy, while the latter is political correctness. You kinda have the two confused.

Not to mention that the most disrespectful thing you can do to people is treat them like insecure little babies who can’t cope with some scary opinions! This is why the people who would typically fit into your progressive stash are the ones who hate it the most.
