These gorgeous purple blooms (just recently learned they’re called Jacaranda trees!) come out on the streets of LA in the late spring and I am obsessed with them — my poor fiancée has to deal with me darting across the street whenever I spot one so I can take pictures of it!

I remember last spring in New York being especially beautiful too, and I was so suicidal and depressed and rageful and impulsive all the time that I couldn’t have cared less about what the flowers looked like or how pretty the morning light looked through the trees.

One year later, I thank the universe for flowers, and for not allowing me to die, and for patience, and for strength.
