Probably gonna quit harping on this topic after this to avoid being a downer, but …

After chatting about it with a good fandom friend and Thragg fan/writer, I think an interesting angle could be him physically overseeing Anissa’s attack on Mark. That way, while Mark would still undoubtedly be the primary victim, Anissa would also be coerced and well, as horrid as it is, (to his own mind) Thragg is just saving his species. Both latter positions are understandable, if not forgivable. I truly think if they still plan to try and rehabilitate Anissa, this would be the way to go.

As to the cinematography, it could be similar to the Conquest fight: no music, a closeup of their facial expressions - Mark’s horrified/disgusted, Anissa’s enraged/frustrated, and Thragg’s solemn. Then, a fade-to-black followed by Mark’s heavy breathing and a steady heartbeat sound before dissolving into Mark lying alone in the crater.

Since I downloaded s2 and s3 for that gif post I have a question about Anissa

In s2 for me personally, she was evil, but like I think she believed that she was doing the right thing? And in s3, we have Conquest talking about how he isn't good like her and doesn't want the good for earth, and in s4, she's a whole new person?? Idk if it makes sense I'm just babbling with a resource final in a few hours so I must be wrong but I really thought despite her being evil and threatening Mark with my beloved Amber's life that she was different than her own character in the latest season

Viltrumites might be the villains, but he clung to the belief that they could change. He had to believe their nature wasn't unthinking violence, that inside each of them was the potential for growth. For empathy.

Eve paused, reaching out for Mark, tugging him gently back on course. She was examining his face, looking worried.

Propelling themselves through space, they went on. Mark grit his teeth, trying to focus on what was right in front of them. Mark tensed, leaning forward as he caught sight of something in the distance.

“Hey, Tech Jacket?” Eve asked, her nose scrunching up as she peered into the distance. “Did you send captain no-shoes to meet us?”

Omni Man and his Sons, after 'Laocoon and His Sons' by Polydoros of Rhodes et al. I'm just starting out with using a wacom tablet and krita to create a purely digital piece. In Virgil's Aeneid Laocoon gets killed along with his sons for attempting to expose the Trojan Horse as a trick. In Sophocles, Laocoon was meant to stay celibate as a priest but married and had sons in secret who are getting punished. I liked the theme of the father getting himself and his two sons into big trouble. Consider it a WIP tho'. Thx.

So there are obviously much more pressing thoughts I have about Barbara Gordon: Breakout and the story it is telling about Barbara, but I’ll hold off on that for a few days to prevent too immediate of spoilers.

Until then, on a goofier note, seeing how Dick is depicted in outside media versus his own comics is always the funniest shit to me omg

Like he’s so cute here. He has been having a weeks-long breakdown in Nightwing. He lays on the floor and self-flaggelates for his perceived failures for a few days and then someone calls him out to help and he’s like “okie :D”

And it’s not like this is some unprecedented mis characterization by BG: Breakout; every series does this. I dunno what to tell you.

If it were just one cameo that did this, the argument could be that the author just doesn’t know what’s happening in Nightwing. But I refuse to believe that at this point. Meaning either:

1) This is an editorial mandate to have Dick adhere to his more well-known persona when popping up elsewhere, and that “well-known persona” is Good Boy McGee.

2) This is some kind of 4D chess commentary on Dick’s ability to act and his martyrdom when it comes to the people he loves, choosing repeatedly to present a facade of fine-ness so as not to worry them, or because he doesn’t think he deserves to be worried over.
