"...but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go..." Song of Solomon 3:4
I'm so blessed by this man. We've only been together for seven, short months and he's already an intricate part of my life.
Jesus assured me that he was bringing a man into my life who would take care of me, make me laugh, and lead me. I daydreamed and imagined what my life would be like when I finally met him.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a self-reliant and capable person. I did not attend ORU to get my MRS degree and in no way did I need a man to feel worthy, but something was missing. I was created to love with my entire heart, and I was impatiently waiting to do so.
I had imagined the plethora of ways I would be pursued and waited and anticipated for that day. I pleaded with the Lord to bring him sooner, faster... NOW! He just chuckled and told me to relax. I could almost hear him saying, 'Amanda, I know exactly what I'm doing. Don't you want my best?" So I cooled it... well as much as an ESTJ can.
When I was least expecting, per God’s typical timing, Dan barged in. Daniel is the kind of man God knew I would need. Daniel saw what he wanted, and went for it. He asked me out in record time, I was captivated by his chutzpah and said yes... you can put together the remainder of the story.
Did I ever imagine this to be the way my love story would unfold? Nope. However, I asked the Lord for the moon and he gave me the moon and the stars.
Looking back at my silly, Christian girl 'Husband List' I am astonished. Daniel has met the essentials, the silly, and the plain ridiculous. What shocks me is not that God met my requests, but that he exceeded them.
I have a man who cherishes my soul in every way. He roots for me, hurts with me, encourages me, prays for me, leads me, honors me, pursues me, is vulnerable and accountable with me, and keeps the mystery alive all at the same time. I'm immeasurably blessed.
If you made it all the way through my sappy blog post, I applaud you. Here's what I would like for you to walk away with: above all else, remember to turn to the foundation of every type of love, King Jesus. Use Him as your model and life source. Without Jesus, this all means nothing.
