i’m kind of surprised how much this all upsets me personally, since i’ve barely been using tumblr lately and not posting at all. i guess tag comments were the thing i rly loved about this site, not just getting them (tho i do love getting them and have saved many of them) but also sharing and uplifting other people’s work as well, and this update takes the joy out of both. it feels like there’s this growing cultural contempt for art and for creators in general. creations being commodified, turned into “content”, buried by algorithms, stolen both by individuals and en masse to train ai without permission, to be ground up into slop - it’s just depressing, man. and the response to these complaints often seems to be that creatives are clout-chasing or pretentious or gatekeeping somehow for feeling wronged by it. i know i’m preaching on the choir on my own blog, but with these changes in place, what is this site even good for but complaining lol

Protect your art from AI.

Artshield works by digitally watermarking your art into tricking AI scrapers into thinking its also AI and thus excluding it from the pool of sampled images. Granted it's methods are not as potent as nightshade or glaze, but its browser based and fast so you can have at least some protection on your art rather than none.

See any differences? no? Thats because unlike glaze or nightshade the process is a lot more simplistic and changes the art in more subtle ways, while that makes the protection a bit thinner the artifacting is much less noticeable. but dont worry, its there!

as you can see theres blurring and artifacting on anything an AI might look for, such as lines, changes in color, and background patterns. While its not much out of JPEG compression, its more than posting your work without any protection due to PC limitations.

It sucks as artists we have to jump through such hoops to make sure our livelihoods aren't stolen but there is hope that tools are being made to keep us safe, showing there are those that still stand with us against the fight on AI.

best combination is usin Nightshade then Glaze on your images. Glaze creates a protective layer and Nightshade poisons the A.I. software.

this ask is. from december 2021. oops. i can't even remember the context it would've been submitted in. sorry y'all i'll be trying to get back on top of my blogs this year for real i think :') it's been a time

to answer what i think this ask is asking though i don't really draw myself with my ocs, i daydream about kissing roek on the cheek sometimes but it's often in a motherly sort of way. this might also though be confusion on what the link is between the two, and that would be that my oc zircon used to be my most active for a time and got me called "zirboni" for a few years in a group server, which inspired my zirbunni username, hehe. unfavourable memories there now though so i've moved on to purralyth, which i hope to keep as my brand for the foreseeable future !! :]
