My director asked me today, with great genuine concern in her face and voice, if I was okay, and I lied and told her I was, just tired and had a headache (that part was true), she offered me ice cream and other sweet things, because she rocks like that, and then she went into her office and I actually started crying. Right there at work. Thankfully the kids were all sleeping and none of the staff saw me, but the truth of the matter was that I was not okay. I am not okay. And she knew it. And for some reason her genuine concern reached down deep and unlocked something in me that allowed me to shed a few tears.
