The greatest illusion in this world is the illusion of separation. Things you think are separate and different are actually one and the same.

just wanted to say that i absolutely adore your blog <333
Aw, thank you! That's very kind of you :)
Hi, I am just getting in to Buddhism and was wondering if you have any advice for me?
Hi! I’m not sure how much you already know about Buddhism already, but I think a good introduction to it is a documentary called The Buddha by David Grubin(you can watch it online for free! :)). After getting to know the basics, my advice to you is to read, read, and read!
I typically go to a library, skim through a couple books, and choose the ones I like the best. I skim through them first because some books can be a bit unorganized or the lexicon can be a bit out-dated so they can be difficult to understand and study. The internet is also a great resource! After learning more about Buddhism, you should be able to see what branch of Buddhism your beliefs align with most and you can choose more resources based on that.
Also, when studying, I like to keep this quote in mind:
"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. Do not believe anything because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything because it is written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and the benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

Hope this helps! :)
Joke [now zen, now zen] #3
A buddhist calls for pizza delivery and says, “Make me one with everything.”
Hahaha! That's great! :')
The way you speak to others can offer them joy, happiness, self-confidence, hope, trust, and enlightenment. Mindful speaking is a deep practice.

Do not think lightly of good, that nothing will come of it. A whole water pot will fill up from dripping drops of water.

All that live must surely die; and all that meet will surely part.

I've been depressed for a while.I've been trying to stay positive and these Buddhist quotes actually help. I tend to hope for alot of things to happen but they end up not happening. I work hard in everything that i do but i end up with nothing. How do i stay positive and keep on trying?
I'm glad to hear that they help! :) From a Buddhist perspective, the way to keep yourself from being disappointed is to not have any expectations in the first place. But that’s much easier said than done and I think we need to take baby steps to get to that point. Hahaha. I’m no expert, but my advice to you for now is to keep your expectations realistic and remind yourself that almost always, things will not work out the way you want them to. But don’t let that stop you from trying your best! In fact, I think trying my best keeps me positive because even if I fail, I know that there wasn’t anything else I could have done to change that. And I don’t think you really end up with nothing. There’s always experience gained, a lesson learned, and your life lived. There are other things I do to stay positive in general though. I keep a notebook with a bunch of positive quotes I like in it and whenever I’m feeling low, I read over them. Another thing I do is listen to a playlist of happy, upbeat songs. One of my all time favorites is "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life" by Monty Python. And a recent thing I discovered was the magic of blowing bubbles! Hahaha.
Hope this helped! :)Â
Golden Fish
The golden fish are one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism.
Fish swim freely without fear through water.Â
For that reason, they symbolize fearlessness of drowning in the ocean of suffering and migrating from place to place freely and spontaneously.
