Two parasols lay broken in the new mud, their owners washed down below, through a storm drain inexplicably installed in the forest midst.
As the maelstrom threatens to swallow them both, Unicorn Cat's mortal terror barely eclipses the bliss he feels at Sphinx Dog's watery demise. Barely.
Like the waking sleepwalker, Sphinx Dog realizes all-at-once: that the pearly ragamuffin, Unicorn Cat, is accosting him; and that his mind, impenetrable to itself, has led him onto the path of a great flooding wave. He regrets bringing his favorite umbrella. Nothing will remain.
The promenade is cut short: Unicorn Cat spies Sphinx Dog at the hilltop, motionless against the storm. Unicorn Cat hated him, and hated that he didn't know why; he couldn't even tell if Sphinx Dog hated him in return. The cur was inscrutable.
Unicorn Cat has just the parasol for the occasion, and recalls the hidden stash where it is stowed. There are many mottlecaps in the glade, but Unicorn Cat knows which one hides his most prized accessories.
The weather begins to sour, and spit inkdrops of rain and shattering thunder. Â Unicorn Cat scarcely can contain his delight.Â
A grassy clearing presented itself to Unicorn Cat, permitting him to launch a calvacade of his choicest kites. To be party to a garish display, with no witness but the weather above, was a delight: secret, and vast. It buoyed his soul like nothing else could.
Observing a subtle twang of turmoil in the atmosphere, Unicorn Cat resolved to see where these restless breezes might lead. Â He gathered an array of entertaining baubles into a bag, and trumped into the woods to seek his day-fortunes.

A Vexen, to the Umlautian, whispered, and took his heart apart with regular injection of insult, all the newest slanders.
The Moon Alphabet
Near the crater lies a monolith garden hand-chiseled by the ancient Umlautian, whose silent craft is the sole remnant of the Titanâs unguessable semblance.
The Moon Alphabet
Untethered from earthly umbilicals, Stranded Astronaut sits meditating while his dark, frontierless consciousness dwells on the crater of the long-gone Titan.
The Moon Alphabet
The ribbon-bodied Rorschaksha flutters in search of prey-- but finds the lonesome Stranded Astronaut only, who has since purged all his cares and anxiety, leaving no anguish for it to eat; it leaves him in peace.
The Moon Alphabet
