NATIONAL WALK OUT
Stand up for common sense gun reform, stand up for school safety, stand up for change!
We the students of Passaic Valley High School are hosting a walk-out along with the thousands of other schools across the country on Friday, April 20th, at 10am. The day will mark the 19th anniversary of the tragedy at Columbine High School. We are tired of witnessing one tragedy involving gun violence after the next with no legislature being made to combat the issue. The issue of gun violence in America is not normal. We as students, as Americans, are tired of living in fear. The time for change is now. Stand up and fight with us!
We will be gathering on the front lawn in front of the school. (Hopefully, with the Little Falls Police Department’s cooperation, we will have the driveway closed to ensure our safety as we demonstrate). The program will officially start at 10:30am and will last 1-2 hours. More information including the length of the demonstration and itinerary is pending—we’ll keep you posted. UPDATE***: Since the event is not school-sanctioned, the police cannot close down the roads. So, we will not be crossing any streets, and will gather on the front lawn by the flag pole (where the student of the month billboard is located).
Please make and bring posters!
If you are scared of getting in trouble—don’t worry, we hear ya’. But, considering how cooperative and supportive the administration was of the Walk-Out on March 14, we are hopeful that they will continue to support us—the students—as we exercise our freedom of speech and assembly, to facilitate positive change in the world. If you are still concerned, make sure to check out your prospective colleges’ policies, as many have vowed not to let any disciplinary actions on behalf of these walk-outs affect a students’ chances of admission. UPDATE***: The administration has indicated that they will not issue suspension to participants, however, you will get a cut from any class you miss over 20 minutes of.
If you are interested in speaking at the demonstration or have questions, please contact us:
